Legal question (Car trashing pricks)

Postby DFP4LTR » December 11th, 2010, 6:03 pm

Just hered through a mate that 2 pricks are planning to trash my car. If they actualy go through with it will they be made to pay for the damages? Can I say they f*cked the electircal system up and get that fixed too? I know their names, numbers and where they live. I know them personaly and they are the most stupid dicks on the face of the planet. The guy who told my mate said "If he dosen't know who done it we wont get in trouble". I think it would be a great win if they trashed my car trying emotionaly upset me then they had to pay to fix it and get it running. All this over a girl mind you.

I don't see the point in buying $300 cameras for a $300 car when im not even sure they will do it. They could be talking shit.

If its a $300 car that ya obviously dont care about enough to put in security to protect. Let them kill it.

The point of the question was if they were brave/stupid enough to do it (which i doubt) would they have to pay for the damage done? since bragging about wanting to smash somebodys car they just bought then it happening a couple of days later is pretty good evidence. It's probably a dumb question but I haven't had to deal with the law much at all and i figured somebody on here would know. Would I need video evidence or is them saying they will good enough?

If they happen to follow through with it and go for it, and you have no evidence of it, it will be your word against theirs.

If you go out, glass the shit out of someone. You'll get a slap on the wrists pretty much. Thats if you plead guilty.

so basically if they damage your car and say they didn't, and you have no evidence. They'll get asked a few questions and that will be the last of it.

cctv will ensure that they will be punished for the damage caused and made accountable for the costs. (as long as you can actually see that it is them on the screen also)

EDIT - I had a similar incident a couple of years back. An ex of mine threatened to come and smash my car. So i went to the local police and told them what was going on. She didn't do it but if she did. I had told the police before the incident occured, along with who it was. She would have gotten away with it though if it did happen, as i had zero evidence. Just a report before the incident

Thanks. I'll let the cops know and I'll see what I can do about cctv. It will be handy to have it there, not just for the car but around the house. There's been a few roberys in the area lately.
