Hey All!

Postby Daniel88 » December 30th, 2007, 10:39 pm

Hey all! I have been looking at this site for a while, everyone has nice looking cars! At the moment im 15, I own a 1988 model Ea falcon, i have been working on this car since i was 13! I am very happy with everything, except gearbox (Car will no longer move just revs) but i still love it :) I was thinking about getting a 4 speed auto in it. Would that make it ride smoother? Anyway that's about it, Glad to finaly be where people agree witht he Fords! p.s i get my L's in 15 day's

clear indicators youll be able to by of some1 here very cheap,

and as for the quiet exhaust ,

i had a redback exhaust 2 and a half inch from cat back and it wasnt loud at al,

but i think all exhaust shops are different so youlll have to talk to some guys that are close to you

altezza tail lights get off ebay ,thats the cheapest way

and same for your rims unless you find some on here

theres a few sets of springs on here for sale now to ,so check out the for sale section,

dude i cant wait to see pics wen its all done

yah cams / bore it out/ larger pistons, port and polish, adjustable cam gears,

or do it the smart way

buy a n/a standard ba motor

and they have 190 kws straight up

throw on some extractors ,cold air induction ,good exhaust and you should get 200 easy

i dont know how easy it is ,

youd have to ask one of the other guys but i know its possible,

and wen u look at how much money it costs to get 190 kws out of the earlier motors ,

i reckon it would still be way cheaper,

only thing is you have to have the money straight away

i would buy one with a gearbox

inscase you didnt realise. na is naturally aspirated so basically just meens it doesnt have a turbo or super charger.

there is alot of things you can do.
personaly seeing as you have a bit of time to get it good. i would chuck a 4litre au engine and a 4 speed auto or manual in. then extractors, lsd diff and im sure you will find a few other things along the way.

Welcome to the forums Daniel.

I will give you some sensible advice, replace the 3 speed with one from the wreckers that looks clean. These gearboxes are usually unbreakable and don't cost much at all. It took mine about 400,000 kms to die. Once you fix the car and turn 16 get your L's and Learn to drive. Then save up and buy a better car. :)

It's the cheapest and easiest option yes. If you actually want to learn on a manual so you can get your manual license, then a 5 speed would be the next best option. You could pick up a complete conversion for around $500 give or take. A 3 speed should only cost you around $100-150 and would just be a matter of old one out new one in and fill with fluid.
