Yeah we eventually got the car on the tray, but had to put down ramps first so the front didn't scrape.

I am hoping to have it all good by Friday.
The good news is the mechanic is not going to charge labour, and i may even get the part for free as it is only a couple of weeks out of warranty.

All back up and running.

Ended up not having to pay anything, so that was good.

It goes in tomorrow to have the bonnet fixed up as when it was resprayed there were a couple of fry's in the paint.
Panel beater has known about them for a while, but it has just taken this long for me to get the car down there.

These are very very minor, and can only be seen if you know where you are looking under fluro's or cloudy.
the pic was very hard to take, but makes it appear much worse then it is.

Ah the old broken clutch cable trick. The car is looking great. Have you had a chance to run it down willowbank yet?

I haven't yet, but I may have a chance to give it a run at Willobank in the not-so-distant future.
Wouldn't mind going up against my Brother actually.
He has the shaker and high-flow cat, but mine is in much better condition (mechanically wise)

gave him a run at the lights once as you do, but we both muffed it and were exactly the same until 80k

Also, I can change gears without a clutch however I was about 40 mins from home and there were traffic lights everywhere - so there was no point even trying.
Plus I had to stop on the side of the road to make sure that the clutch cable was all that was wrong.

Happy with the work on the bonnet.

The trick to Willowbank, have low pressure in your tires and stop on the water trap. Select 2nd and do a decent skid to get heat into them. Once staged hold it at about 2700rpm then when the last orange light goes just nail the throttle as you dump the clutch. A quick shift into second should see you ahead but be weary of that shaker.....I dropped .5 of a sec with that mod alone!

I'm not sure. A guy in our club was going to try and organise a night.

I believe your can rock up every Friday night (or every second Friday night) and get yourself a few runs depending on how busy it is.
Not sure what cost is though.

Replace all, Radiator oses, Heater Hoses and Heater Tap, if 1 has gone they will all be on there way

Got it back with the hoses done yesterday, and drove it home. Everything was running fine.
Drove to work this morning and still good, but I went out to take some stuff to a job for work and on the way back this happened.


That is looking down on the Passengers side of the radiator. It just dumped it on Oakey Flat road (Huggie will know where that is)

I rang up the mechanic who is about 2 mins drive from there and he sent someone out to have a gander, we managed to limp it back to the workshop and it is there now getting whatever it needs.

Also getting them to check if it is just co-incidence or if there is something not functioning correctly and building up pressure.
The car did not get hot either time as as soon as the coolant light came on I switched the car off and pulled over.

yeah the amount of times my old EA broke down there is not funny...

looks like you have a blockage somewhere perhaps in the radiator itself causing the top hose to expand and explode and now with the tight new hoses the end tank was the next weakest link... should be an easy fix, pull the radiator out and crack off the end tanks and have a look inside, should be able to tell from there if its there or elsewhere

Yeah I thought about a blockage, but wouldn't that cause the car to run warmer?
Car was running at perfect temp both times.

My water pump has been making noises for over a year now, I don't suppose that stuffing up could cause pressure by any chance?
This will show you how much I actually know. Probs got FA to do with it lol

well if the pump doesnt work then the water will basically be sitting there like a boiling pot on the stove.. there is only soo much it can take before the expanding water puts too much pressure on the system. so its a possibility

falcons normally show normal running temp until its too late, so it would have just jumped straight up when the light came on.

or the tank blew before the temp got too high

Yeah, both times it blew before the temp got up. Turned the car off as soon as I saw the coolant light (advantage of not having a base model).

Well that may have been it then. The pump finally shagged itself.
It was making a whirring sort of a noise for over a year.

Radiator was replaced, and all is running well.

Cleaned the car yesterday (including engine bay, which obviously had crap everywhere)
Feeling much better now. Wallet is considerably lighter though haha

i had a cooling system problem, although mine involved my water pump alternator belt to shear wchish got the pressure so high coolant was sraying out of the hoses were they connect to the headed tank but of well just keep looking after her and think to yourself how light would your wallet be if it was a commodore...

Yay, air-con finally needs re-gassing now.
has been working less and less efficiently until yesterday when it just ceased to cool in 25 mins.

bugger, i know the feeling. my laser is doing the same...used to freeze up real good, so much that the vents would smoke and drip water... now it takes 30 minutes before you start feeling a difference in the air temp... what makes mine worse is when you put it on high the whole system turns off... no idea why. dodgy dial i think lol

Well since my last post the clutch cable went again:( But it has been replaced free of charge as where it broke means it was most likely a faulty cable.
However if it happens again soon then it will be investigated a little further.

I managed to start it on the starter motor and drive it to Morayfield early one morning, so that saved a tow truck. (every time it goes on one it gets more marks and crap underneath it. )


I polished up the red strips again yesterday, as they were looking a bit pinkish again.
As I have said before as long as they are not to bad, all they need is a hand polish.
If they are a little worse, a cut and polish should bring them up fine.

Bonnet cost $350. Was done by a panel beater mate of dad's though. I have heard of prices around 450-500 for a bonnet respray though.
Dad and I did the wing so that was basically nothing (he had paint and gear from his late paint repair business)
