InfernalTyrant's EA

Postby InfernalTyrant » January 28th, 2011, 8:36 pm

Figured I'd start a build thread. Not really sure why though, but I just felt like it.
Bought this EA S-Pack back in May for my first car. I've done shit all since I bought it, it's been off the road most of the time. All the engine mods were already done when I bought it. It's got a 5 speed 4.0L, injectors, extractors, 2.5" exhaust and a cam. I don't really know a whole lot about these mods. I'm not great with engine stuff but I know enough, so any advice is always welcome. It's got Cobra 18s, is sitting on King Springs and has AU seats. Wish I knew more but the bloke I bought it off didn't know much either.

I've only really fixed a few things and put on a new steering wheel. Haven't spent much money on it, but I want to soon. My cash flow will be pretty slow, with uni and rent and shit. I don't have any plans for engine mods, pretty much everything that I would do is already done. I have to get a J3 chip for it though because it's still got the EA ECU.

I want to do some cosmetic shit. Mainly XR lights and a boot lip. Also wanna get EL door handles (they fit fine, right?) I want recommendations as well, so suggest something and I'll have a look. I've got a few other things in mind as well but they'll probably never get done. I won't be able to do ANYTHING with it for 3 moer weeks though, because my leg is still in a cast from a new year's accident. Immediate plans are to get a RWC and get it registered. My old man's gonna help me with that in the next week or so. Will also hopefully get my Ps as soon as I get this cast off my leg.

These pictures are from when I bought it but I haven't done anything to the exterior yet so it doesn't matter. I'd clean it up and take some more pictures but cast is stopping me doing that. If there's anything particular on it that you want to see just ask and I'll grab some photos.
Any suggestions for mods are also welcome.

This looks awesome man, I'm planning on doing exactly the same mods you have going. I already have a redback cat back, just need pacemakers and a hi flo cat.
May the boost be with you.

Looks sweet mate, and I'm sure the XR lights and spoiler will make it even sweeter.
Good luck with it

Cheers guys. :D
It's got pretty much all the legal engine mods that I can get while on Ps, I'll do some more stuff when I'm off them, might even buy something else and boost this, but that's a fair while down the track.

Anybody know if the S stripe would look any good painted black? I've thought about that a bit and wanted to try it.
Also just a few things to get it looking nicer. Interior needs a couple of little things like a console lid, and I wanna get a leather gear boot, I'm not a fan of the rubber one. I'll cut the gear lever shorter as well. The interior is really clean though.

Not at the moment, they're the only photos I have but I'll be able to grab some on Monday and I'll put them up.

I'll uh... have to hide the neons. Don't worry, I didn't put them in and they're coming out very soon.

would look good clean :P

Colour code the grey bars and moulds, black strip instead of red, remove the 3.9 badges, colour coded EL door handles, EB Mirrors, respray the wiper cowling, if you're keeping the clear tail lights, i'd tint them just a hint, try and get them to blend with the garnish, otherwise get some stock taillights and ghia garnish.

Haha don't worry mate I'm kidding.

Noob question, but what is colour coding? I assume it's matching the colours? I should've already taken off those 3.9 badges, I'll do that as well. Both of those tail lights have a crack in them so I'll have to replace them for a RWC anyway, and I'll check out the Ghia garnish. Thanks for the suggestions.

Oh, I like that a lot.
Any other bits I should colour code? I don't think I could trust myself doing it, and I don't have the equipment for it and stuff. Know around how much it would cost to get a few little things like handles, mirrors and that bar sprayed?
I dunno what the colour is either, it's not a Ford one.

his looks neat without being over the top.

not sure on price.

fairly certain yours is a factory colour, i've seen EA's that colour before, although its not overly common.

One of the sexier EA's i've seen. Only thing I can pick on is the altesa rear lights *shudders*. If you like them then by all means keep them ofcorse but everything else is pretty spot on. Love the rims :good:

Thanks man. I'm not a big fan of the tail lights, wasn't something I was really going to worry about but I wanna take it seriously now that I've seen how good these cars can look. What other options do I have for the back?
I love the rims too, but they're fucked. Bloke who had it before me rubbed them on gutters all over the place. I'll put some pictures up of the scratches, I'm gonna need to get some different ones when I can afford it.

Any idea what sort of 'look' you're going for with this car? Cause EA S-Packs look tough as is, slammed on snowflakes. But the route of big rims, colour coding and what not looks great too. Definetely get rid of the altezza tail lights for stock ones though. Looks like a clean ride, so good luck with it :good:

Thanks. I don't really like the snowflakes, but I've seen a few cars here that look great with them. Yeah I'm gonna have to get stock lights. I've gotta get new ones anyway and I'll be fucked if I'm paying $100 for the smokey ones.

I don't know why but EA + 4.0 + T5 from the Thorpy/Narracan area is setting off something in my memory from the dim dark past... I'm just going to throw a name out there - did you buy this off Danny/Brad Ikin?

Checked the paint code on the ID plate. It said K. Apparently that's monza red. Snapped a couple of interior pictures (needs a vacuum) and where the wheel is scratched, also got one in the wheel arch where the paint is bubbling pretty badly. Engine bay isn't anything special either. I'll give it all a proper clean when I'm up and walking and take some more pictures. iPhone quality pictures aren't great, and my shaky hands don't help at all.

She's a bit dirty on the inside, but even so, I think it looks good. A nice clean should make it come up a treat! Ever thought of maybe upgrading the interior to leather or something like that? in the future? Just a thought....

1 thing I noticed is the bit between the window and the hood. Just pull that off and go over it with a can of flat black and it should come up a treat :good: same with the dash cluster surround. After a good cut and polish and some detailing it will look mint.

It's actually pretty clean on the inside, just needs a vacuum. Haven't got any plans for leather yet. It's not something that I wanna be spending my money on at the moment. Wanna do more exterior stuff rather than interior. Want newer door trims for my bigger speakers though.
Yeah I'm gonna do the wiper cowling when I get the cast off. I'll give it a buff as well and get it looking real nice.

Found a boot lip on eBay, it's in NSW though so the bloke's gonna get a quote on postage for me.

I'm getting some pretty serious cabin fever. I'm sick of staying inside all the time. Just wanna go and do shit.
Would I need to do any prep to the wiper cowling and cluster surround before painting it? Found a pair of tail lights on eBay, got 3 days left. Gonna put some money on them during the week. I'll get a garnish to match them as well.
