Hi, I have seen so many questions asked about how to post up photos of your car or whatever in a thread and i have explained it many times before as have others so i thought i would create a simple thread on this topic, how to do it and what you need to know about how it works.
So Ill explain this as best i can using photobucket as its the host i use and have found it to be the easiest, anyone else who want to add a different type of host such as tinypic or imageshack then feel free to post it up here :hy:
Ok so first things first, in this forum, as many others, theres spam prevention rules that we all must need to adhere by to keep things running smoothly. Here its the 5 post minimum before you can post URLs, which is the line of code you need to link a picture from the internet to your post. An example of a URL is the line of code at the very top of your browser, at the moment mine says: http://www.xfalcon.com/forum/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=103
So to link a photo from one place to another you will need a line of code that directs back to the picture. Make sense?
Which brings us to photobucket, its a online image storage site that you can upload images, videos and more to share with freinds or family or use to post up photos of your car on this forum, we must start by creating an account. This is free to most people, as long as you dont require bulk storage you can just sign up for a free account, you still get a lot of storage but with a free account, up to 1gbyte i think, or there abouts, for most of us thats a few thousand images.
Click here to go to photobucket and create a free account >>>> HERE<<<<
Now after you have an account, you need to upload images from your pc to you new storage account. You can do this just like this:
This will bring you to this page where you can choose to upload to the default album or create a new album to keep all your pics sorted and easier to find by clicking create new folder at the top right. Next click on the big green button above to upload some piccys, it will prompt you to hold the crtl button while selecting pics to choose to upload more then one pic at a time, or alternatively u can use the bulk uploader if you have a lot of images you want to upload all at once., its heaps faster if you have 10 or more you want to select at once, just choose [COLOR="blue"]bulk uploader[/COLOR] option at the bottom.
Now that you have a few images up that you want to share you need to find the images URL and to make it easy photobucket automatically affixs the IMG tags to it to display it in a webpost. you can find this URL line by simply waving the mouse over the image you want to use and selecting the bottom line, or the IMG tags for it, and right click and select copy just like this:
Now that you have copied the IMG tag for your picture you can simply hit paste into your post on this forum and the line of code will appear. Its a good idea to seperate it from your text by hitting the return key and creating a blank line between the words you have typed and the IMG code, so it displays better.
Heres an example:
Hey, all heres a pic of my car
[ IMG]http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh289/n00bus/PBpics2.jpg[/IMG]
isnt it full of awesomeness?
I intentionally put a space at the front of the code so it would display the link and not the picture, for demonstration purposes only, normally it would display as i have affixed the previous pics above into my post.
Ok thats about it, have some fun, as i said its not only limited to putting up pics here, you can send pics of your trip to the snowwies or to bathurst to your relatives on the other side of the world by simply sending them the link to your album and they can view it without having to send them 4 pics at a time via email, handy stuff really :hy:
