V8.

The noise makes skids good.

Plus bogans love skids but don't like turbos. They will mark you down.

yeah any v8 running straight off the header's sounds tuff. doesn't even have to be that powerful, as long as it pulls second/third.

edit.... just read your thing in the wanted section. sound's like you have a pretty serious turbo arrangment. not sure if i'd be getting rid of all that for an 8

Unless its got a screamer, excessive spool noise and flutter, a turbo fails as a skid car.

V8 all the way otherwise!

don't know wether this helps or not but my plan is to build a 351 clevo, you can make a good engine using 302 rods (new pistons to make up the length of the bore with the 302 rods) which give more toque with the shorter rod and also 302 close chamber heads which gives u higher compression. apparently they make good power for the money you put in.

Yea a lot of people seem to go that way makes them a bit more revvy as well, when was the last time you saw a clevo throw a rod at a burnout comp you allways see holdens and chevs in pieces sitting in there own oil!!!Theres a good runner 351 on ebay $950 sounds like a good start.

I'd go a V8.

Downside of a turbo car is the mental underbonnet temps, which is a hard thing to overcome in a burnout car as they normally aren't getting much air due to the low speeds.

Plus what Dan said, those toothless bogan dickheads love a V8. Anything else and they'll be booing and punching their girlfriend/cousin.

^^^ agreed

at Easternats, there was a turbo V6 VN, pulled a pretty decent skid, but made no noise and ended up cooking itself.

This thing won the summernats burnout comp i think? So it shows that a 6 can do it if done right.
I've also seen this in action and its quite a site to see!

this is why you go v8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTHYMnqWvW0

nothing beats the sound of a 347 at 12,000 rpm,

well for 40 seconds or so anyway
