Impco is probably the best fitted and reliable system that gets installed these days from what I've heard, although other systems could be just as good, and what adamf said^ I've got a system u could buy if u needed ;)

I thought there'd be rules or something that would mean you couldn't do second hand. I assume you'd have to get a RWC type kind of thing? But yeah I'd definitely have to get it done, no way I'd be able to do it. :P
I'll give Impco a call tomorrow and see what they say.

theres nothing wrong with second hand kits.

the main thing that has to be done by a credited installer is the main service line.

Sundeep installed LPG on his EL Ghia 5L (which then became Ours) he never got it complianced, after i purchased it i pulled the service line out and had the tank tested, then had the service line and tank done professionally.
they actually said had the tank been in date they could have simply checked it over and complianced it.

saying that, i'm sure some places won't be at all interested in second hand parts or stuff that other people have worked on.

So I called the place near me that does the conversions, said it would cost about $2450, and if I supplied the parts he'd be looking at around $1000.
So if I buy Damo's system and get it installed that's about $1300, and then I get a $1500 rebate. Seems kinda too good to be true...

just make sure you get as much of the system as possible, down to the last relays/bits of wiring.

also helps if things are labeled.

in saying that, any decent LPG fitter should be able to work it out, but it may add to the cost.

we got the rebate when it was $2000, cost $800 to get tank tested, fitted, service line done and a extra fuse put in, claimed the $2000 and was laughing.

Damn that's awesome. Only thing is though, I've got absolutely no idea what is a part of the system. If say I bought that system off Damo, what else would I need to get?

Oh John, did you get my PM?

Thinking of going to LPG Auto Network in Hallam. I'll have to talk to Jason about having two tunes on the J3.

LPG Auto will install a genuine American made Impco system with a 68
useable litre LPG tank mounted in the boot and will cost $2395
before the government rebate of $1500.

We will complete the Government Rebate paperwork on your behalf enabling you
to immediately claim your grant of $1500.

Each of our conversions include;
1.. Brand new spark plugs
2.. Brand new air filter
3.. 3 year manufacturer backed parts warranty
4.. Lifetime warranty on our labour
5.. All water fitting are brass
6.. All connections are soldered and fully insulated
7.. Loyalty card entitling you to a further 2 cent/lire discount when you
purchase LPG
8.. Free first 1500km LPG service

We will complete the installation in 1 day and can complete it before the
rebate drops to $1500.

It was sparking fine, I just cleaned up the plugs a bit while I had the tools out.
Anyway it's starting fine now as well, seems very temperamental. :?

Did his at least start?
My brother in law is gonna help me have a look at it on Sunday, so I'll mention the timing then. Other than that I'll take it to the mechanic next Thursday, will probably have to get it towed there which will put me out about $100.

cant remember if you mentioned it, did you spray degreaser or something inside the intake to see if it runs smooth? if it runs smooth using a spray of some sort then it wont be timing

Funny, that's the exact car I had in mind to replace the boxcar. Those things are bulletproof. Plus it would be good to have all that extra space and maybe even throw a mattress in the back for long trips.
