Me and my Turbo'd E-series powered Cortina

Hi everyone, I'm Corey and i have a '76 TD Cortina. I have fitted a 3.9EA motor and coupled it to a 4spd single rail with a 4puck solid centre clutch. The turbo is a Garrett TB4133 with .5ar front and 1.00ar rear split pulse housing. For engine management i'm using a Haltech E6X. Fuel system consits of a walbro gss341 intank connected to a EA falcon intank setup custom mounted to original cortina fuel tank, 3/8 fuel lines, Malpassi FPR 1:1, XR6T injectors coupled to an AU inlet manifold with butterfly removed. Spark is from an EF/AU1 coil pack. SAAS race seat, 5 point SAAS harness, Stainless laser cut interior including dash, Speco guages: Boost, oil pres, water temp, voltsband air/fuel + 5" tacho, 1 shift light + stage light. 8 & 3/4" EA LSD running 2.77 gears. 17 x 8.5" Chrome rims, lowered. I know i.ve left out a few things but if ya want to know anymore just ask. At the moment it is currently not going due to not being able to get the timing right(well thats what me and a few mates have come up with anyway).

Tuff. I'm assuming your tailshaft is either made of thicker guage or a 2 piece? Gonna be a sweet ride when finished.

Great concept you have going here mate. Well done. I really like your placement of fuses too!
I dont suppose its meant for the road though. What are your plans for it? Quarter mile times? Burnouts?

Hi guys and gals, should have said i'm building it as a sport compact drag car plus burnout machine. The manifold, dump pipe and exhaust i made, the intercooler piping was done by a mate who has access to a tig. I am a boilermaker by trade but we not allowed to do forigners at work hence no access to the tig. gonna run a std tailshaft for now I dont think it will last too long but will replace when breaks I will post some more pics of the build and exhaust over the next few days and tell a bit more about my goals for the car. Good onya mate...........no foreigners.......that is so un-australian......GAY to say the least.........i had a TC 250 pre-crossflow.......feck that hammered....a turbo variant would be excellent drag/burnout machine.

Ok, bout time i posted an update. Now fitted a std AU motor, bit more power out of the box, stronger head gasket etc.... am in the final stages of getting it ready for the drags on the 4th sep here in tassie. Over the past month have been doing a few little bits and pieces, fitted a tailshaft loop, fire extinguisher, the alternator finally, starded fitting the bumpers. still got a few vac hoses to plumb up, the car is gonna be re-wired to neaten up the avg job that we ( me and a few mates ) did, dyno tune ( already have a tune from a mates car in townsville, thanks Chris ) to check afr, power output etc. No real recent pics as the car is still fairly dirty but have some of the new motor fitted and the airbrushed bonnet, feel free to ADD me on facebook, Corey Munday to check out the new pics plus some of the bodywork being done

How'd you go with putting the 4L in it? Engine mounts and all that kinda thing?

Um custom made outta 6mm mild plate solid mounted as it only a drag car and not recommended for a road car.....
Custom sump, custom oil pick-up, slight massaging of firewall for starter motor, also where the harmonic balancer is I dont think there is too much that is std on this car......

just makes me appreciate it the fact i have done it all myself + friends...

Ok time for an update ppl. Well I sent the car to fueltech in Launceston in March. Asked for the car to be looked over and told what it needed, they got back to me after a week and said that it needed the fuel setup changing, a tun plus as we had only dodgied the up the wiring to get it going it needed to be re-wired as well. so it recieved new bundy tube fuel line and a bosch 044 pump. then they set about the wiring, which came up a treat. then when they went to fire it founf there was a problem with the Haltech. the igniter was shot. so sent to sydney to be repaired. came back, went to dyno for tune found another problem . got the tune upto 170rwkw and 4000rpm where they found a misfire. so back to the workshop. Found that it was the RA8 adaptor that was connected wasn't necessary as the E6X has one built into it and that was causing the misfire as they were working against each other. So rewired again without it and back to the dyno. 235rwkw and 770nm of torque at 14psi boost . now thinking that i was gonna pick the car up the following week i get a msg saying that he went in to clean up the car ready to be picked up and started it and found it had a problem with misfire again. So now the Haltech has been sent back to Sydney agin and now i'm just waiting it to be returned to lonny then i can go pick it up. Well that is the latest update, keen to get into racing it in August
