Turbo for Mock up required. Wreckers???

Postby sticman » August 16th, 2011, 7:01 pm

Hi fellas,

I'm going to turbo my Ef 5.0 Wagon. I'm planning on using a single T70 or a Holset HX35 or a similar T4
I am aiming to do most of the fabrication work myself, slowly over a few months or so.
Now, I can't really weld so I don't wanna damage a brand new shiny turbo, before I even get to use it!

Just want to see if there is a wreckers around that would have a old busted Turbo, for cheap, that I can use for a mock-up.
I'm in Altona North, Vic but I don't mind driving around abit to get stuff.

So if anyone knows of a wreckers/truck wreckers etc that might be able to help me out, please let me know

Thanks in advance

Is it the same as the size I need? If it is, then I'm keen.

You dont have to weld anything to the turbo. Just get one that you will use.

Yeah I know but I want to be able to move it around the bay a bit to get the best position. All the piping/manifolds will be a custom job so lots to do.
Might even have to move the battery to the back.
I'd rather get a mock-up one I can play with instead of rooting around with a $1000 plus unit
Thanks for the help tho

I don't rekon you would need one for mocking up.. unless you plan on throwing it around the engine bay lol.
The other thing is unless its the same as the one your using its a bit pointless.. and they're heavy as fuk so they get in the way mocking stuff up etc.

Lol pickapart! might go past there on the weekend an see if they have any built powerglides layin around..

lol they have a few T2s :p
man just use the turbo you will end up using.
tap and cover everything.

the easiest way to do shit like the manifold and dump is mockup the turbo position then use only the rear housing once you have an idea of where the turbo will sit.
so much easier than lugging a turbo around awkward shitty positions.
