ecu help

Postby doddsy99 » August 17th, 2011, 5:30 pm

ok i have a manual gli eb2 4l which had a hot motor with a big cam and head work not sure exactly what was done but the ecu was remapped, and that motor sucked up some water and died so they bought a new motor which might of been from an ed, and it is using the remapped ecu and is running really rich and is blowing unburnt fuel out the back and is getting 20l/100k which isnt good,so i bought a ecu off DJV8T5 over a month ago but havnt got it. so can anyone tell me what to do lol, get it remapped, but i wouldnt no where to go or just get another ecu but coz its manual its hard to find or buy an auto one and make it work. thoughts?

If it's been remapped it's probably got a chip in it. Check on the bottom of your stock ecu. Pull the chip out. Put a stock reg and injectors in if they've been swapped.

i think it has stock injectors in it but not sure about the reg because around town i will sometimes get some shutter which feels like its running out of fuel but its not, so if i take out the chip it should go back to stock?

You may find the car is in limp home mode.
does the fuel pump keep running when the ign is on but car not running ?

if so check electrical plugs or ecu etc.
