lol no gas on this one. pity.

but it really shows how much the lpg must have been slowing down the old ef, cos this thing would absolutely destroy the v8. wouldnt even be close. pity it sounds like ass compared to the wheezer.

I don't mind the au. This one will come up pretty neat! Black is a good colour too :)
I've found the 6cyl ones to be reliable as **** if they're not messed with. My mum had a s1 fairmont on LPG, just kept putting it's hand up for abuse every day lol. Barely even serviced it :P

if i kept it i would have just poured money into it, and got nowhere. ive fucked with cars for 20 years now, and its time i gave it a break.

spoke to the new owner the other day too, hes loving it, its on different wheels now, and hes bought some alloy heads and manifold, is aiming for 350-400 hp out of it. im glad its gone to a good owner. also glad i dont have to see it driving round lol, cos i do miss it.

4cyl hatchbacks are fair mint as a run around, but you realllllly need a big second car (ie. a falcon of RWD descent...) to air your genitals correctly

i keep getting told theyre the hyundai of the bike world

early ones are shit, new ones are decent, but still not quite the quality of the jap stuff.

2 year unlimited kay factory warranty gave me the faith to try them. also the most powerful lams bike on the market at the moment.

team moto is doing 2011 gt650's for $7800 ish ride away, brand new. thats good value i reckon.

well, seems i cant help myself... was looking for a new car, but decided im liking my debt levels dropping rather than increasing, so i bit the bullet and paid the rego on the pig au. seems ive developed a grudging respect for the temperamental slut of a car. i sure it has a mind of its own, seems to play up just enough to piss em off, but not quite enough to convince me to get rid of it.

im gonna fix up a few things on it, needs brakes bad, if i can find a ghia or lane interior cheap il chuck that in, i miss leather.
do the tints and throw some better rims on it and hopefully that will do it for a while.

doesnt help when cunce keep linking up pics of this thing...

Mine have been grinding metal on metal for 2 months now.

It's an AU, it doesnt deserve pads.

Apart from blowing up engines every now and then I've only needed to swap out 1 coil pack in 3 years. AU's are good!

lol, my pads are fine, its the discs, theyre more warped than marilyn manson.

i got a coil pack, oxy sensor and new leads for it off justin, but theyve made no improvement at all. so i might actually fit them over the weekend and see if that helps. coil pack looks like a pain in the arse to get to tho.

boost would be nice too.

The hate continues! :P I don’t understand how people hate the interior of an AU, especially the series 3, it’s mint I recon! Yes, the AU1 was a fair pig, but the rest are good. Plus reliable, I’ve had four now and not killed one engine yet, and I boosted two of them! I wish I could put some effort into what mine looks like on the outside, but daily duties forbids this.
I recon yours looks good, apart from the series 1 rear. The S3 Ghia nose is da bomb, first thing I did to mine too. I recon S3 kit, S3 boot spear, de-spoiler and nice wheels and this thing would look mint!

Postby nstg8a » December 27th, 2011, 9:12 pm

seems i really cant help myself...

had a customer come into work just before xmas, got to chatting to him, and turns out he owns spoilertek.. fast forward all the blah blah shit and the week before xmas he drops off a full t3 kit for a price so far below retail i was laughing...

so i have four days off over xmas, so crack the toolbox, and the wild turkey at the same time.

rear bar comes off first, and i scope what i need to do. simple drill some rivets out of the old bar and transfer them to the new bar.
Image
Image

only using self tappers for now so i can move the mounts around if needed to get the gaps semi decent.

Image
and mounted up, fit is pretty damned good for fibreglass, the only issues are actually caused by the selftappers :banghead: being too bulky and being a very tight fit between the bar and rear 1/4. i guess thats why ford use rivets.

todays effort
onto the front bar...
Image
did a bit of a search on aff (now that im unbanned) on how to remove the bumpers first, apparently theres supposed to be a row of bolts holding the front bar on, but i just had the 13mm nut in each wheelarch, and a single self tapper in the centre beneath the grill. no wonder this thing rattles.

got it mounted up fine, was drilling some holes and snapped the last of my small drill bits. so test drive time it was, 4.40pm, with supercheap closing soon and it pissing down no choice but to take the au instead of the bike.
1st issue, getting it off my driveway
Image
looks like a good excuse for some 19s...
figured id risk it with no front plate, cops hardly ever drive round here... famous last words.

enter murphy... coming back turned into my street and wouldnt you know it, a patrol car coming straight toward me. sure enough he goes past then throws a u turn. this should be interesting.
i climb out, and say 'let me guess, no front plate?' turns out they were pretty decent ****, let me off with a warning, although they got a little sus when they saw my rego label was expired lol... i explained, they took my details and buggered off.

and thats where its at at the moment.
still need to do the sideskirts, gonna take my time after seeing how sterlings sat too far under i dont want mine looking like that.
going to the wreckers tomorrow after work to see if they have a series 3 boot spear, and some nuts mines missing.
front bar needs to come off again so i can mesh it (have black mesh for it) and see if the under tray thingy will go back on or not.
the boot spoiler is the only piece of the kit thats not black gelcoat, so i need to paint that, plus the bit of the grill that bolts to the bonnet.

I do not agree. T3 kit should not be on anything but an actual T3, especially a shitty stock I6 auto! Like I said, S3 Tickford kit would have been perfect.

lol, lucky its not yours then... im just mucking round with this thing, care factor zero here.

a couple of grand thrown at this thing is better than me giving up and buying something flash i cant afford, and wont want 5 days after i get it.

on another note, picked up a decent boot spear, might get it and the bonnet piece painted up tonight.
