So I got defected again.

Postby superhuS! » August 22nd, 2011, 2:02 pm

Friday nights success through the defect station turned sour when the same cop that went over my car and let me off pulled me over. Gets the stick out and the cars about an inch too low. Defected me for ground clearance, and tint. It was a Minor, no roadworthy required. I'm not really worried about the height, but i dont want to rip my tint off. It's fucking beautiful and i wont get shit like it again.

Seeing that its a minor, whats the chances of the vicroads dudes checking it over when i go to get it cleared? Should i just raise it and leave the tint? Wtf do I do?

Try going down at like 4.55pm on a friday, that would be your best chance at them not checking it.
Whats the worst that can happen? they tell you the problems not fixed.

agree with John. If its the side windows and not the front or rear, chuck different windows in or different doors on, then swap back once cleared.

I think Johns idea is probably your best chance. Could always argue that its factory privacy glass. VRX lancer's, GLXR triton's, exceed Pajero's come with it from factory.

I've got a defect on my car,Just a minor. But the cop has ticked the box that says i need a rwc. I thought if it was a minor you only had to take it to vic roads? Anyone shed some light on this?

Fah wish some c*nt tried that on me while I was holding the height stick. Prob would be their own head through the front windows.

4.55 on a Friday won't work either, they'll just tell you to go and get fucked.

Fix tint to regulation. They are clamping down on it.

how hard is it to swap e series side glass? gotta be better than having to redo the tint.

dont really see the point in trying to get away with it, all it will do is piss them off when they realise you think theyre idiots...

Its only the front 2 windows that need to be 35% rears can be 10 or 20% and anything behind that can be limo (completely black).
i nearly got done for tint on a rwc but luckily my fronts were slightly lighter so they let me go after they checked there rwc rules.

is it a requirement to show ur car at vicroads when clearing a defect?

a mate has had numerous amounts of defects in his VL, all of them for either too low or running slicks on the street. not once did he actually drive his VL to vicroads when clearing his defects. just handed them all the paper work and away he went. once he even had a mate go in and clear his defect for him, no questions asked.

Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop-heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow.

No RWC defects have to be checked. RWC defects can SOMETIMES be cleared without inspection, pending area manager's approval.

yeah the box hill **** tried to get me to bring my car there on a tow truck cause they claimed it was their specific conditions that any cars marked too low need to be seen.
told her she can pay for the truck herself, the rego had expired, they wouldn't give me an unreg vehicle permit cause of the defect and were tryna tell me the RWC i had was useless.
bit of a nice grey area vicroads have created with that one

told her to read the website a few times, get her manager and then come talk to me again...

look on the VicRoads site under window tint. It says any window the driver would have to look out of to get a clear view around him. so side when you check your blind spots and your back window

I swapped my front windows last week to get a RWC.
I interpret the rules a little different but the RWC place was happy so I didn't say anything.
The rules state : All windows available to the driver must be X percent. To me thats every window.
