97 EL Oil filter removal

Postby EL WAAAGZ » August 24th, 2011, 6:42 pm

Hi all

I have a 97 EL Falcon Wagon and im having some trouble removing the oil filter as it has been overtightened and there is no room to fit an oil filter wrench to remove it. Just wondering if anyone has any advice.

Screwdrive and hammer. Hammer the screw driver threw the filter then turn

Agreed, there are a few different designs for oil filter removal tools and I remember it took me a few goes to get the right one for my EA. I'd rather find the right tool instead of making a mess with a screwdriver personally. ;)

Nah not messy. Use a phillips head with a good point on it at hit it hard enough it goes threw one side on the first hit then hit it again to get it through the other side then turn. Takes 20 seconds and doesn't make much mess at all.
