FG Falcon facelift

Postby Troutman » September 16th, 2011, 7:22 am

This seemed to come out of the blue:

Curtain airbags across the range at last, USB port, colour touch screen except on base models, styling changes, reduced cabin noise levels and additional sat nav features for G6E models. The four cylinder turbo is confirmed for early next year.

Looks preety lame.
The huge grill makes it look like a fish.
The territory front end looks much tougher

certain models improved, others seem a step back.
but until they're seen in the flesh its a tough call.

i kinda like the XT though, would be good coupled with the LPi option

Here's hoping now they have projector headlights we will see HID at last
As john said. Some look great. Some look very bland
Xr's could do without the upper grille (or a more sports looking one at least - the old F6 mesh instead would look great)

Be interesting to see the direction the FPV's take on mk2

I'm surprised they haven't changed the whole headlight to be the Territory one.
At least that compliments the lower 'fish' mouth. What was the point of the Territory adopting the same indicator cut-out as the falcon in the quarter panel if they were still going to have different lights.

Ford you do strange things at times :|

Definitely a smaller lower grill would have been better. Terri lights on the G6 or something would be nice.

I've seen very few new car launches which are not met with a bunch of 'experts' on forums immediately rubbishing it based on the earliest photographs. Probably won't change any time soon either.

Caradvice.com.au has provided some good comparative shots.

Not a fan of the massive grills, don't like the new terrirtory either.

BF Mk II is the best looking falcon and fairmonts I reckon. And the 2nd latest territory.

Personally I reckon they look pretty good... when I squint and look at the front grill kinda
reminds me of some of the recent Aston Martins; at least the top section of their grills...

They look very "now", and not making the base model look like a pov-pack should be a winner. Here's hoping the lpi model is a hit with private and fleet buyers alike.

Personally i'd still pick an ef/el high series or ba-bf2 high series for styling, but you just can't beat new cars for safety.
