EL Fairmont Ghia V8 (Now for sale!)

Postby seanrally » October 16th, 2011, 3:51 pm

Got bored figured I would post this up.

Its my EL Fairmont Ghia 5ltr. Not very modified but a very nice car to drive. Does look great too.

Specs are basically as follows

Heritage Green paint, which is immaculate,
Cappa full leather interior, again very good condition. Premium sound, climate control etc. Usual Ghia stuff.
Has a standard 302w with a very nice set of mandrel bent extractors on it, high flow cats and 3inch mandrel bent exhaust.

It is lowered all round with King Springs, and Pedders shocks. I will change these to Bilstein shocks once I get my hands on some fronts, have rears which I already rebuilt waiting to go in.

Has a 3.45 LSD which I rebuilt.

Has ugly EF Fairmont wheels at the moment, I cant decide on some wheels to fit my budget yet. Any ideas?

Here is some pictures:

Needs headlights replaced or polished!

Engine bay shot. Pretty standard looking, but fairly clean.

I am thinking of removing the little mud flap things off all 4 wheels. Do they normally look better with these gone? Any other ideas on what to do with it?

Very tidy looking EL you've got there mate, looks to be in awesome nick!

EF/EL's look great without mudflaps, makes the body look much 'cleaner' so it's a must do I say. Only other little things I can think of that would look good, would be Fairlane/LTD style clear side repeaters, tinted windows and definitely polished headlights, lol.

A bit of Autosol metal polish usually works a treat on the lenses. If they are quite bad though, a quick wet sand with some very fine paper (maybe 1200 grit) before polishing should get them looking a lot better ;-)

Nice ride man. Looks pretty good with the heritage green too.
I agree on the 'cleaner' look without mudflaps, even if the result of taking them off is the opposite... :(

better headlights will make a world of difference.
mud flaps gone looks a lot better, just sometimes leaves marks in the paint.

Spent 15 minutes rubbing back the headlights and giving them a light hand polish. Looks about a million times better now. Will give them a proper polish in the days to come, should be even better.
Will be interesting to see if it makes much difference to light output!

The rally car is surprisingly quick! I have owned a few other 2wd rally cars and this is much much quicker. In fact I would go as far as to say its the fastest 2wd rally car I have been in, and I have spent time competing in some of the fastest 2wd cars at state level. Of course it is far from standard and has had a lot of work and development gone into it, but yeah definatly a good thing! Nice and easy to drive too! If only my skills matched the cars potential!

Do a thread on your rally car, would be interesting to learn what kind of prep/development you've done.

Hahah I thought about it, thought it might have bored people, as most seem to be road-car oriented, but yeah I can chuck some info up on the rally car! :)
