reinforcing clutch cable hole in firewall. help ideas?

Postby snyderdude » October 26th, 2011, 4:44 pm

hey guys

just in my build at the moment im about to convert the el to a 5 speed and figured while i had the engine out ( doing some work on it) it might be a good time to reinforce the clutch cable hole in the firewall as i know they are prone to cracking in the e series.

just wondering if anyone could suggest any ways of doing so in more depth than just weld plate on either side etc

diagrams and pictures of peoples efforts would be great!!

and any help is greatly appreciated as im a total newby to this kind of stuff... welding etc lol note im also using a malwood pedal pin with it too

cheers :drinks2:

weld a solid plate to the pedalbox itself that will sit flush to the firewall, this is probably the best way and you can brace it up so it's very stron and weld it all out of the car
