The Australian designed and engineered Ford Ranger scored a five star EuroNCAP crash test rating during testing in Europe today.

Ford’s Ranger is the first ever pickup to achieve the top five star rating, outclassing the likes of the Volkswagen Amarok (four star EuroNCAP safety rating) and more than doubling the PK Ranger’s two star safety rating effort.

In addition to the record rating in the pickup category, the Ranger also achieved an 89% overall safety rating and 81% pedestrian impact safety rating, the latter of which is the best of any vehicle ever tested by EuroNCAP.
