my hot EA..

Post pics of your rides here

my hot EA..

Postby halo » January 22nd, 2008, 9:01 pm

aye just wanted to show off my EA.. its an S pack 3.9 MPI 5 speed

no engine mods till im off my Ps (then maybe a drop in since its done 25x 000 kms although in great condition).

bought it a couple days ago for 1700..

el xr6 rims 16"
lowered (superlows i think definitely not ultra lows)
exhaust (cat back?) with that nice chrome tip
great window tint, its sorta got a tinge of purple to it
full stereo system installed today :)
xr8 front lip

real clean everywhere with a nice note to it, perfect condition..

plans for the future are only minor in the short term, such as neon interior lighting under the dash, ghia trim if I can find it, just those small kinda things.. in the long run well i'll hafta see if i want to put money into a car that is 1 year younger than I am (i'm 19) or get something new... if I keep her then probably an EL engine and work that a bit, shorter gearing, better brakes the list could go on and on and on and..................................

tell us what you like and what you think could be improved upon!!

interior, engine etc pics up soon

adress is http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii91/halo__23/

Thanks for the compliments yeh it really is in great nic.. owner's dad used to be a mechanic and its pretty good all over despite 250000 kms.

New pics up. If anyone is confused about the photo of the engine bay its a 4.0 rocker cover not a 4.0 engine.

Next things to do are colour code all door handles and rear boot panel, also maybe install interior blue neons under the seats/dash, change the steering wheel, get a fat falcon sticker for the back, debadge it...

Also, does anyone know the cost of going LPG? Seems quite attractive if the PM pays for 2 grands worth and then my petty bill is halved...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii91 ... CF0598.jpg

slowly but surely the EA is getting there aha.. next mod will be neons under the front dash and rear seats.. what's the best way to go about this? I have spare line out ports going from the amp out, thought i might tap into that to get the neons some power, any thoughts?

Line Out ports from amps are there to join another amplifier to it by RCA cables, not for a power feed... dont be lazy and just pick up a power and earth from under the dash for the neons lol

ah yeh and noice car... will always love those ftr's!

the ftrs are hot as mate. and yeh your way would be very sensible but aha we'll see what happens.. I was thinking about cutting the RCA cable just after the cord comes out from the amp and soldering other cable on and taping it, running that under the carpet to a switch mounted near the steering wheel, and then running each light through the switch. Any issues with this set up since I thought current would pass through the RCA out.. Otherwise might just go straight from the battery..

Thanks mate.

Best 1700 I ever spent...

Aha how come you only considered it and didn't go through with it? It was a steal with all the extra gear and fantastic cosmetic/mechanical condition.. Maybe cos u already got one aye..

Yeah man, I wouldn't have a need for two cars. Still just a P-plater like yourself. Great find though!

Planning on turbo? If not, I recommend some pacies and a decent filter - I got some good gains from mine.

Re: my hot EA..

Postby halo » January 27th, 2008, 12:50 pm

are you from NSW or Vic? Vic you have some power to weight ratio thing, in NSW it is no modifications that boost engine performance or that require an engineereing certificate.. so I am pretty sure extractors and an air filter, full 2.5 exhaust kinda stuff is illegal till im off my Ps.

I'm not sure about boosting her... If when I'm off my Ps shes still good to me and I'm keen to keep her then I'll consider throwing in an AU engine or similar, and rebuilding it before it goes back in with lower compression and a turbo on the side.. money permitting..

Otherwise I've always been keen on buying a pre-modded Cefiro with RB25det engine and gearbox... But we'll see, this is my first Falcon and she's so much better than I ever would have expected, so she might just get the works :) lol a good 2 years time tho! take care..

RCA wont work for a power feed... run an accessory feed or constant power to the switch then the neons.

aha I put out a thread saying sydney members can i get your details so maybe I could get a sydney cruise going or something, one bloke from orange, one from newcastle, one from the vic/syd border........ Far out...... trying to get forum stickers to advertise this place so some more sydneysiders join, no replies yet :(..

Anyways, guess since this is sorta my build thread Ive done nothing really to her since, just debadged her, mounted the amp onto the sub box... was gonna install neons but the ones at repco looked a bit tacky and there weren't any good mounting positions under the dash I could find.... already mounted a sub remote behind drivers side fusebox and the passenger side had nothing real solid for it to go on... anyone else done the ultimate of all ricer mods?

nice find, great lookin car
i got my 1988 EA S-pack 5 speed for $1500, and it is in great condition no dints, scratches or rust
the only thing i dont like about it is that i find that it runs a little hot for my likings but a couple of bonnet vents should take care of that
im planing on putting in a AU console and a BA short shifter in mine

Nah, man! Go the whole new radiator for like $300-400. She'll never run even mid-temp again!
I can't stop loving the radiator in my car, one of the few EA's to never see the warmer side of mid-normal... except when it lost a fanbelt.

so that would be a 2 or 3 core radiator than wouldn't it??
my old man had a 4 core put in his F350 and it never got above 1/4 exept when towing uphill then it is almost boiling, but he does have about 4 - 5 tonne on it so you would expect that it would rise pulling all that weight uphill

Yeah, mine's only a two-core, but she runs real well. Thermo fans are another option, but from what I've heard, radiators make more difference.

What sort of temp does yours run at now?

aha S pack represent!! LETS ALL GET S PACK TATS !!! or not.. aha.. newayz my temp guage is broken, gotta get it fixed since the water tank gets pretty hot after a drive.. just keep filling her up every couple days until I figure whats wrong exactly.

I might put in the AU console also, nowhere to put your left arm down in these EAs just gotta keep it on the stick.. but i'm fairly shitty about paying 390 in insurance so it won't be a while till I do so..

and yeh the handbrake it kinda weird but you get used to it I guess.. no problems now.

anyway, I lose my license in about 20 days for 3 months so I guess I'll be putting some work into her in that period.. fukn I lost it for 6 months total... already done 3 months, interim 1 month period, then another 3 month ban on the 22nd of this month.. and yes it was for speeding, and yes there IS such a thing as safe speeding. Regardless of that I speed no more though.. forked out a grand in fines which coulda gone into my baby..

check the pressure cap see if its cracked, that's what was causing my car to loose its water all the time. it also droped the temperature down from R in NORMAL to the A when i swapped caps, and thats with only 1 of the 2 thermo's going :D

mine gets up around the 95 - 100 degree mark, (i got a new temp gauge to sit in the dash)
oh and the oil light sometimes comes on when it gets to about 80 degrees and it is full of oil, and we have done an oil change, we r going to try a new oil sender and if that doesn't work then we will add an oil gauge
