New Ford Owner - '99 AU Falcon

Postby danny_ » February 2nd, 2012, 12:32 pm

Hey guys!
My names Danny/Daniel. I'm a 2nd year Business student at Victoria University.
I'm 18 years old, turning 19 in April so not long till I get my ugly green P's :-(

Bought a '99 AU Falcon about 2 weeks ago from an auction for $3400 ($2850 not including the stupid fees). The car was in excellent condition apart from a few scratches from a stupid wind deflector, a chip in the windshield, and a dint on the passenger side, but apart from that it looks very clean. Interior is immaculate for a 13 year old car, and has only done 169,000 km! Also has Duel Fuel so that's a win for me, and for my pocket!

Pretty stock to be honest, haha. Let me know what you guys think! :D

Holy ****, an 18 year old with decent grammar. You will go far here kid, seriously.

Looks very clean. Get some series 2 tail lights asap. Will change the look of the car dramatically.

What are the plans?

Haha, thank you!
Yeah, I'm planning on getting the series 2 tail lights in the next week or so, along with a JVC/Sony headunit from JB Hi Fi. Can't stand listening to the radio anymore, haha!

One of the first major mods that I'm planning on doing is lowering the car. Keen on getting Ultra Low springs (King Springs or Lovells) and also shortened shocks (most likely Monroe GT Sports). Then the exhaust with some dual dumpies will probably follow after lowering the car, as will the sound system. Not planning to spend big money on the sound system like most 18/19 year olds would like to, haha. Also want to get EL Futura hubcaps on it to make it seem like a sleeper ;-). I'm tempted to change the middle bit of the dash to a Futura dash, since I won't have a clock at all once i change the head unit.

Also keen on doing some kind of power window conversion (most likely just the front) since all my windows are windup :(, but that would be further down the track. Also some tint, but that would be once I decide if I want to keep the windup windows or try convert them.

Sleepers are fast.

Do you have 15 or 16 inch wheels? El caps might not fit.

Mine will be a slow one then, haha.
And they're 15 inch wheels, but I can get 16 inch wheels off a friend if it doesn't fit.

Based on the photos and it being a Series 1, it'll have 15" Wheels.

Lovells are much better than King's. And speak to Justin at Tuff Car Parts about getting Koni shocks. Better than Monroe GT's for slightly more.

Aesthetically, the front grille is AIDS. If you can, try to find a fairmont or at least a futura one.

Ah thanks for that! Will definitely have a look around and see what I get quoted!
Yeah, the waterfall grille is gay as Aids! I'm planning on getting a high-series bonnet off a Fairmont, so I can get rid of the hideous grille and also add a bit of class with the chrome ;). Friends giving me the chrome bit for the boot as well so it might match up!

Haha, I'm not a really big fan of the AU XR6 kits to be honest. Rather keep it stock :)

They actually look alright as is, looking a lot better with age.

Hubcaps from an older series is a shit idea, like a downgrade.

Just lower it and leave it.

Haha, yeah I think just going to lower it and keep it at that. Then just the exhaust and then the little things :P
And thanks! :D
