Is surging when the car doesn't accelerate smooth?

How low do you run your tank? Need more than 1/4 of a tank

That sounds like a load of shit.

Turbo's are turbo's and they don't change the oil supply holes.

Sounds like i nice car, you should post some pic's.

If higher octane fuel stopped The surging then I hope you didn't drive it on thE low stuff for months. It wouldve been pinging badly if it got to a surging point.

He only picked up the car recently, so would probably have just been the fuel that was in it when he got the car.

Wrong fuel can do damage instantly.

If the fuel in it was stale before you bought it there's always a chance of damage. 91 should never be run in these cars.

ford company here has done something to enable us to run the xr6t on 91 without damage, not sure what it is but gas heres way dearer. my m8s xr6t has only ever ran 91 and hes had it nearly 10 years with no problems.

You can run it on 91 it even says so in the manual, tho not recommended for performance. They have a knock sensor.

Would a knock sensor, when sensing pinging, retard timing and decrease power towards the top end?

I'm trying to work out why my XR-6 T has its days... seems to pull hard to red line some days and then some days its a dog and goes soft at 5k.. :glare:

Ba knock sensors are crap. I wouldn't trust them one bit. You should see them going off with normal engine noise/vibration on a datalog. Very unreliable.
