White walls/ side walls illegal?

Are white walls/ side wall strips illegal, no where in vicroads road worthy requirements does it say that it is illegal ,It says no repairs are acceptable to the side wall but , side walls are not a repair it's a modification because your simply cutting good rubber out and replacing it with coulored rubber.
Here is what vicroads says about wheels and Tyers.

I think its more cutting.into the weakest part of the tyre and making it thinner and weaker.

The section you are putting back in is not moulded as one with the tyre.
Has the new section been tested and now meets the appropiate specification ?

Is the rubber you are putting back in ( i thought it was just paint ) the same compund ? as what you pulled out ?
What about the bonding method ? perhaps if you vulcanise it, and get it tested it will be okay.
But not in a mobile setup where there are outside elements.

I think that is the major issue.
Also while 1 person may take a minor cut and not harm the tyre another may be a bit worse and take a chunk out.

So it all comes down to , witch copper pulls you over and it's just taking your own risk , if it does weaken the tyre ,

Yeah, if they are shaved when doing them, its illegal as the load rating and information are taken off.

If they dont shave them, its perfectly legal, as all information is there and the tyre hasnt been altered in any way.

I'm getting a red wall strip put in, and my load rating is not in the way of the strip so I'll be getting some tomoz

basically its reducing the strength in the panel, but like most trivial things, you would have to carrying on like a bit of a nugget to get slapped for it.

I was always under the impression it's just because of the tyre safety info being removed from most tyres. That's all we could find when I was fitting tyres 5 years ago.
There's a few tyres that it's fine to do it with, Kumho KH17 tyres have 2 big flat areas you can grind out to paint strips on. All the safety info is right down against the bead.
