What car did you learn how to drive in?

Postby get_an_ea_today » March 14th, 2012, 10:06 am

I thought this might be interesting. What car did learn how to drive in?

I learnt in a 1991 EA Falcon wagon Series 2, four speed column shift, bench seat, cpi, stock everything, back in 2004 when I was sixteen...

My dad had a huge beer gut back then, so the bench had to go all the way back haha just making it that much easier

Dad's manual 82 Subaru AWD Wagon which later became mine. Was fun trying to lose traction launching in the wet in AWD.

Not just once but TWICE I had to stop on the same roundabout on mt Ls because someone was coming around the wrong way. Learning on Bribie was good preparation for dealing with 'tard drivers.

89' Rodeo Diesel non-turbo. Top speed of about 90 and makes a hell of a noise to get up to that! Hills are a challenge, and came with a fancy brown interior!

After driving that for a bit, I then got to drive Mum's old EBII factory 5 speed wagon. It actually felt like a huge upgrade!

The car I learnt to drive in was your good ol trusty block ute, it was a 1969 Datson 1300 3spd column manual. used to come home from school and flog it around the block for hours using up all of dads fuel! I used to get in a bit of shit for that. lol

I think Urvan is slightly better than Prarie.

Whenever I see one of those I think of a poor middle-aged divorced parent with a shitkicker job driving back to their smelly house in their faded 10+ year old clothes with a car load of shopping bags full of generic brand carb-based food.

First car I ever drove was a HJ60 landcruiser when I was maybe 12 or 13.

First driven a car in anger was a Camira in a mudpit when I was about 14 or 15 and had the expert tips from my cousins who where younger then me and they slid those things so well!

First manual car on the road was a 1970 mach 1 mustang haha with the L plates and all.

First race car was a sigma street stock.. $200 weapon.
