Show us your 4x4!

Postby OMY-747 » April 10th, 2012, 10:19 pm

So after seeing more and more threads of 4x4's on here, and then seeing other user's names mentioned having 4x4's. I thought I'd start a thread just to see how many 4x4 owners there is on here?

Post pictures :)

Some of mine hung up in the dunes. Bout to lift it 2 inches and looking at 33" Nitto Terra Grapplers from the states for the 22's or selling them and getting 18's with the same.

Actually you'd be surprised, they're great. If you look at dune tyres theyre a flat tread where as mud terrains being chunky will dig. I had a turbo hilux previously with 31" AT's and this is way better.

Where i typically 4wd, havnt had to let them down, though on the long weekend we travelled to a local National Park that has a decent hill climb going in. I was crapping my pants when i saw the cars queued up and stuck up the lhs track. My father in law has 22"s on a 100 series, we both let em down to 15lbs and literally walked up the rhs. Funny watchin everyone else stuck on their At's and Mt's that dont understand the concept of low tyre pressure.

I obviously have to avoid any decent rocks which suits me anyway. Currently have 31.5"'s and just wanting more clearance for fraser island in sept.

**** 4wding with 22" rims. I've 35" tires on 15" rims and I've buckled a rim out bush. And my 15's are steel wheel's to.

Yeah I laugh at people that say they can drive everywhere I can while keeping 40psi in their tires then they get bogged as I crawl past with the 15psi I run out bush :)

Not saying they are the way to go, although its very common in the states now where they can fit 35"s under anything. Problem is, 22" offroad tyres havnt hit the market in australia. 2g from the states for the tyres alone, also 2g for 18"s and the same tyres.

Heres a pic of my Ranger I had for a while last year.
Got it cheap and added some accessories over a few months.
Didn't get it out much in the Mud as i knew i'd sell it again being an Auto, didn't want to ruin it.
Was good fun for the time i had it.

Went into yack Stanley forest. Ended up getting lost lol. Went in there about 8pm, got out around 1:30am. Everything looks different at night, we drove straight for to long before choosing a track and just kept going from there. Went in from yack and ended up coming out at beechworth lol.

Yeh as mentioned they are easy as to come off. I just sold that MQ aswell. $3000 6 months reg. Worth it but, 5spd, LSD rear, Lokka Front, garrett gt28.

Only thing i would suggest dansedgli is get one with P/S. Mine wasnt, in 2h driving around town its easy. When you hit the tracks in 4L its a mission with the hubs locked, doing 3 point turns and changing ruts at full noise is scary, the wheel just does its own thing.

Here's a few pics of my old GQ ute.

Image
Image
Image

- Rebuilt GU 4.2TD Engine
- DTS Turbo kit (running 12psi)
- 3inch Exhaust
- 2-3in Lift
- Twin 1125cca Yellow top optima's
- 9000lb Tigerz11 Winch
- Narva 225 HID's
- LED rear tail lights
- Millweld Comp bar, brush bars and rock sliders
- 34in Simex JT's & 33in Goodyear Wranglers (for the road)
- Removable Nylon canopy/steel frame

Ended up wrecking it out then bought another GQ, an RB30 Wagon "Rex Hunt Special Edition"...

Image

Pretty much stock except 33's, Dual battery setup from the ute and spotties. Currently fitting a VL turbo setup to it and a 3in exhaust, will eventually get a few inch's lift in it.

And a few of the boys out for a weekend up Big River.
