I shall try to post a little more as of now. Yeah they're the 3rd set ive had through the bloody thing. Took 3 sets till i was actually happy with the condition of them

Also i bought new headlights, made night driving so much easier! and pissed off those bloody yellow things i used to have.

Well, it has certainly been a while!

I have done a few small bits and pieces to the car. Bought a 3:45 out of an xr, yet to put it in though.. Got some leather seats, installed electric windows and fairlane door trims. Removed the sub's and amp and put some new 6" speakers in the front doors. Just little things really. put in a center console light (the one at the back of the console) removed the stupid guages that i put in for no reason.
It's all about having a nice tidy car to drive

And holy crap, once you get electric windows, you never go back! am so glad i put in the hours of installing those fuckers!

Would love to continue with some more mods and such but all my money is going into savings for overseas, so nodose will have to wait!

UPDATE!

Went to the tuners today. Chiptorque to be exact. Im not entirely happy with the result considering the amount of money i spent. It certainly is nicer to drive but power wise im not stoked.

Yeah i suppose so, i was hoping for a little more, low to mid 40's would have been a bit nicer to the ears

The list which i suppose matters would be
Pacemakers, hi flow cat and full 2.5" exhaust
Crow cam, apparently fairly large. bigger than what they recommend for a standard compression engine
3" intake
manual

and over 300 thousand on the clock

That is fairly low for the mods you have.. Although i cant talk. I did a run full stock and the car made 115rwkw on standard unleaded. Got 20thou off the head, double valve springs run on premium and only made 110rwkw.. But im pretty sure my auto is farked since i cant even spin the wheels in the wet lol.

My mate made 134rwkw in his completely stock xh manual ute...

mate as long as your happy with how it drives then that's all that matters. numbers on paper are just numbers on paper.
my car gas similar mods bar intake and Fucked auto, I'd be lucky to make 125 lol

most probably tired engine could also be mismatched cam, faulty sensors, poor ignition, dirty injectors, bad custom tune...... list goes on

i made 157kw with similar mods, but had replaced everything component on the car with new over the years, apart from the bottom end, and just a shave of the head with AU gasket

it becomes a pointless battle in the end, especially when you can buy factory boosted falcons now for **** all

I reckon wrong cam.. not enuf compression or flow thro the head to suit it.. along with it having 300 thou on the clock.. dumpstar on here make 133 or somthing with just extractors full exhaust and j3 chip not custom tuned..

I think we have forgotten that chip torque have tuned it. They are known for ultra reliable and drivable tunes but comes at cost of low readings.

Do what I did....get it home and twist the dizzy. made huge difference and gave the WOW factor that should have come with $1000 price tag.

Adjust the timing you say ?? They said they adjusted it as it was apparently 10 degrees retarded. You think advancing/retarding it a tad might help it a bit???

They set the timing to 0 then do all the timing via the chip. I drove my car out their driveway with the right pedal making love to the fire wall and it was so disappointing. I told them there was no climax with any of the rev range. They said its safe and its a good result bla bla bla.

So I got home, put it into diag mode and twisted the dizzy. That car ran 14.2's with more in it. It also had 280k on the clock.

Long story short I had some head work done and a tuner from Melb came up and used the chiptorque dyno to tune it. THAT WAS FANTASTIC! kept my brothers STI forester honest (running 14psi)

they also put out some quick n/a looks at paul (oed666) and myself i have had 160rwkw from them it fucking hammerd although sometimes it was slow as all **** id just turn it off and back on and it was sweet

Well folk's, the time has come where my love for camping and the outdoors doesn't mix with the car I drive.

So I have sold her

The guy is picking it up on Saturday and will hopefully look after her and love her like I have for the last 4 years.

Considering the time and money I have spent on it, I sold it for peanuts. But in reality, mod's aside, an El Gli with 330xxx k's on the clock is worth shit all.


I'm selling so I can fund my purchase of a Landcruiser. It'll be a lot slower but will get me a lot further.

There is a time where you need to move on to different things. Im driving a company car now and my plans to fix my wagon up more are slowly disapearing into the darkness. You will love getting into a 4x4 especially doing a few crazy mud pools and steep hills.

I don't think I'll regret selling it. I spent money on it and had my fun with it.

I bought an Ae71 corolla a couple of month's back as my daily run about. I had plans to put the falcon away and slowly continue on it but I have changed my mind. I have throughout my whole life loved going away camping and fishing, but these last couple of year's I haven't had much of a chance. Mainly due to the car I was driving.

I was going to advertise it here but I never got around to it


On another note, I love the Corolla. What a bloody great car it is. So simple to work on and you cant go past the sound of a wide open carby!
Even though it's 29 year's old, it drives much nicer than the falcon does (Toyota holding it's reputation haha) It's not going to cop any mods or stupid things that people buy them for, just keep it tidy and running great. It's also got original 145xxx km's

The Landcruiser I buy next will most likely cop a couple of mod's. Practical mod's though that will be useful at the campsite or going fishing and whatnot. Nothing outrageous
I'd like to do a bit of touring in it and perhaps head out west, don't know yet. I'll get a car first before I plan where to take it
