Thanks for the comments guys :)

Pete - I ended up having to cut them wayyy down, took a fair bit of time! But I'm not happy with them, as I thought the black strip around the window covered more than what it acutally does, so from the outside you can see a bit of glue. I'm planning on a part 2, possibly play with the horizontal idea.

InfernalTyrant wrote:I think they'd look better if they were horizontal.

The reason I didnt go horizontal is because the rear window is tiny! Its on the cards down the track, but for now this will do :)
Also the old fairlanes had slanted ones on the side, and I've seen VL & VS commys with horizontal sides and not a big fan. > This

Also tax is just around the corner for me, getting some new tread! A few options, what do you guys think?

A. 215 fronts and 225 rears
B. 215s all round

It currently has 215s all round, keeping in mind I'm getting whitewalls, so any bigger on the rear and it would look weird with a big fat bulge and walls.

Also inch whitewalls or half inch?
My old 15's had half inch, which I really liked, but thinking maybe inch this time, but might be a bit over the top?

Cheers,
Danny

I reckon with the walls the bigger the better, would add massively to the grandpa spec.

Looking awesome. All class.

What did you do with the exhaust? Seems they are hard to get and I need one. Your sig says its custom, can you give me details and a rough cost? How does it sound?

Thanks :) And yeah exhaust is full custom, as AFAIK you cant buy bolt on for Fairlanes. It cost me $600 inc the tip, bit on the expensive side but Sound Exhaust in Shepparton really do look after you :) Awesome customer service.
I chose a 2.25 as I wasnt really planning any performance mods for the lane, and it has a stainless center muffler and an 18" (i think) hotdog in the rear. I wanted something legal but had a note when i put the boot in it (after all, its only a 6cyl fairlane, and luxo's werent meant to be noisy ;) )
I'll video it tomorrow if I remember.

Thanks Joel, next time I'm planning a melb trip I might give him a buzz :)

With the tyres I think I'll go the 215's all round, and order myself some flaps :D

The NL is up for sale! Will be trying to get carsales price of 5k on stock NL wheels, know of any families that want a cheap luxury cruiser to tow the caravan? :P Sun visor is good for those long drives and car is long enough to not have to listen to kids whining "are we there yet?"

New daily, Danny's old DCII LTD, will stay as is so I spend money on getting my falcon boosted :)

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I decided to go with this look when I first bought it and it paid off..

It won't change much cosmetically now, but I might chuck better suspension in it down the track and the gearbox needs some love too lol

So update,

As much as the visor was unique, I started to get over the look.. This accompanied by a terrible paint job that started peeling and the mounts starting to crack it was time to come off! Completely contradictory to my last post!

Also I dont think the LTD grille suited as well with the visor on. Getting tint this weekend, going to go as dark as I can but still allowing the venetians to stand out. I <3 Lawn Bowls sticker was also removed as it wouldn't make much sense without the visor.

Image
Think it looks much cleaner like this.

Also should be a v8 by the end of oct.

Cheers,
Dan

Maybe one with power lol. Low and slow is good.. but I wish I'd never sold my NL Ghia i6, it rolled 200hp at the tyres through a 3000 converter and was the comfiest car to cruise in.
