hoist rental

Postby bentls » June 28th, 2012, 4:28 pm

quick question how much would people pay to use a hoist? $10 an hour? $50 a day?
what have people charged you in the past and what would be acceptable to charge?

i would think $10-20 an hour would be easily fair.
however im sure some people would pay alot more.

main annoying thing is when you rent out your hoist and then people think they can use your tools as well.

The main reason why its not readily available at cheap rates comes down to insurance.
some random crushes themselves under your hoist, you're liable.

thats a separate discussion though :)

Cheaper as time goes on to a certain point.

As an example:

$40 an hour
$35 per hour for 2 hours
$30 per hour for 3 hours etc.
$25 per hour for 4 hours or half day for $100.

Make it marginally cheaper for bulk periods so they buy that and the hoist is less likely to be sitting idle.

Where is it? Can I pay $10 for 10 minutes to fit some exhaust clips? :-P

What happens when some poor **** doesn't finish on time and there is someone waiting? Triple the rate?

between the issues of people wanting to use your tools and other equipment, insurance issue if someone doesnt put the car on properly and it falls, and people not finishing their car in the day and ends up leaving it sitting at your place (or work or where ever said hoist is)

it becomes not worth it i think.

Too many rules.

Offer it to mates and they pay for beer/BBQ with some cash thrown in.

Could you really say to someone 'oop, sorry, you're 3 mins and 34sec over your time limit, you owe me $6. But I'll catch you at the pub tonight'.

id pay 200 for a day of hoist use.

getting a waver signed by who ever wants to use the hoist is a good idea, whether it be in regards to failure of completion, damage of hoist.

its a good thing to have but its not all ways going to warrant you a smooth ride. you still might get the kunt that agrees to all the terms, rates, conditions then sign's the thing goes ahead and uses's your hoist, cant finish it, disappears, then sticks you with a massive bill and a car taking up work space as collateral.

at the end of the day its good to have signed paper's for things but its only going to work for you in court.

or the other option is smashing the prick but your just going to get in beef with the pig's and it will be your ass in court be for his.
