Haha, not the first time a bike has been suggested! I wish I had any semblance of cardio fitness, then I would, but as I am now I’d probably have a heart attack and die!

Yep, the bloke lives in Wodonga. I took my EJB plates off and kept them so it’s got stock ZFZ-something plates on it now. I was a little sad when he took off, never realised how bloody awesome the exhaust sounds from the outside! Just keep an eye out for a Red over Pink XR8 and that’ll be him!

There will be no next toy, that was the point of the sale. So I wouldn’t be holding my breath for updates on the next stupid mod from me, because it ain’t happening.

Wouldn't consider a Manual S3 XR6 on LPG?

thats how i felt when my fg got driven away too, the guy thrashed it straight up the street and damn i loved the sound. i had never heard the fg from the outside getting a flogging, always thought it was kinda quiet but it got quite snarly up in the revs.

sad day :bye:

next car for me will be a 4 cylinder shopping trolley, probably mid 90s integra or similar.

i want to travel, and cars dont mix well with saving for me.

i think we all get to this point sooner or later, i just wish i had done it ten years ago.

Just buy another AU, auto & on gas, and learn that there's a world that exists below 4000rpm.

Get a boob job with the $ saved.

LOL!! I was waiting for Hus to put his half a cent in!

Nah, no AU on gas, mixer ring systems FTL. If I get a car on gas I want it to be a BA with gas injection of some sort like yours Dave. I don't drive enough to need gas anyway. My housemate has a BA Ghia with SVI and is upgrading to a new EcoGas FG2, so there is a chance I might buy it off him. Depends how long I can last without buying another car!
Oh, and I don't need a boob job, my man tits are huge as it is! They are just too hairy! Maybe I'll get lazer hair removal instead, then I don't have to worry about finding a gf! :?

If you don't drive enough to need gas, then don't get a car on gas (due to initial capital premium of buying an SVI/LI car over a petrol car of same kms/condition.)

Something cheap to buy and relatively reliable ftw. My vote's probably still for an AU. At least you'd be familiar with the shit you'd break.

Also I recommend an Implanon.

Dave is on the money, I was only thinking of gas as that’s what my housemates car has and it’s been great and I know the complete history on the car. But if his old man ends up taking it, as is looking like happening, then I’ll just buy a petrol. It would be nice to get into a BA, but I have never really been a huge fan, and as we all know have a soft spot for the trusty AU!

I might do exactly that John, always loved the AU Ghia! Although IRS is an extra concern that to be honest I don’t exactly require. I’ll just keep an eye out and see what comes up, I don’t need to rush anyway.

LOL, stop tempting me Tristan! Would be hilarious though, like I would do a full 360 and end up back in the very first car I ever owned! The old days of the Barge EA were pretty awesome!

To answer your question Danny, my criteria for my next car is automatic, 6 cylanders, cruise control and electric front windows. Which puts your old man’s Mazda out, sorry mate. Also sadly the EA too! If it had cruise I would seriously consider it, but the majority of the driving I do do is on the freeway.

Fk sake keep whatever you buy next.

Do you like paying stamp duty? Do you like never getting 12 months out of your rego? Do you like always losing money on a sale?

If the goal is to save money your criteria is shithouse. Get whatever 80s 4cyl jap dogbox you can get for less than a keg and drive it into the ground.

Look Ev, you know is just perfect for you, Sleek lines of the aerodynamic EA wagon, sporty performance of the "S" pack with the bigger tow cam and all the reliability of a car maintained and owned by me! hahahahah.

Its true though I reckon just get yourself a cheap AU, BA and leave it stock it wont break and you will save those dollars you keep talking about!

Whatever man, I was only two months shy of having to renew the rego on this car for a second time! :P But yes, Vic Roads has made a mint out of me over the years. This car alone went through three different sets of plates! And I still want to put my EJB plates on whatever car I get next, which is another hundred bux!

You are right about a little Jap car, and I did have one for a while, but getting around in it was ungainly! I still want to preserve what little dignity I have! Tristan is exactly right, I can still save money if I but another Falcon/Fairmont and just leave it the fvck alone!

The wagon as a Daily has been a freaking awesome car, Its never been a problem cause I haven't modded it at all. Every time i think about turboing it and putting convo pro's on it I have to tell myself its a daily driver things will only break.

Plenty on Gas BA's cheap, save your dollars and buy a house if that's what you want OR buy the wagon turbo it and we can all have some enjoyment on these forums for a while!

Stop it Tristan! Not like I haven’t already thought about it though. If I did buy it, I would have kept the XR8 so it could donate its internals! A blown V8 manual EA wagon would be the tits!

Haha, yeah I would thrash the shit out of that poor little thing, you’re right about that Danny! I am leaning more to a BA the more I look, there are quite a few XT/Futura BA’s in my price range. I’d love a BF, in particular a MkII ES with the ZF or a MKII Ghia would be my ultimate, but I don’t really want to spend that much.

BA's look much better but have more problems.... if you can handle the looks of an au id stick to a low km au fairmont ive seen them for peanuts even for a series 2 or 3... they go for almost the same price as a bog stock falcon... if i was going for a bog stock sedan as a daily id go au in that range after all the problems ive had with my old ute. Fuk theres a au ts50 or te50 i forget low kms on carsales for 9999 au can be very good for the pricing!

In the end its really your decision Carlos

Yeah some cheap T-Series' about for sure.
This one has been for sale for approx 12-15 months tho.
I could have purchased it wholesale at the Holden dealers here for 6k.
It looks like it lived on a remote island driven by natives with the rust to prove it.
The boot struts came out of the body when the boot was opened. Oh my.

The black T2 doesn't look too bad for 9k tho.

Damn that’s cheap! As much as I would love to, it kinda defeats the purpose of selling my car. It’s still the same temptation to do mods and the like, being basically the same car just auto. That was the main driver behind the sale, to get rid of the temptation. Yes I can also mod a 6 if I really want, but I’ve been down that road already and it didn’t end well. I like to think I have learnt from at least a few of my mistakes!
So yeah, it will most likely be some form of AU live axle auto I6 petrol, and that’s the end of it for the foreseeable future!

Just get something like this

Image

That's what we got for the mrs a few months ago. All 5 tires brand new, working sunroof, awd, 1.8 boxer motor, 5 speed manual and a few months of reg left on for $2,450. Yeah it's got clear peeling and a couple chips of paint of the bumpers. But we can park and not give a **** about it, and just a change of the tailpipe has it sounding like a boxer should. Yes it's slow, but it makes up for it when you get to a windy road even at stock height in 14's it just grips :)

Hahahaha, A+ responses as expected!! The KB thing is a joke! No way that is happening in the next two years, if at all!

I initially looked at getting another AU, a Ghia I6, but figured why not move on from them, and chuck in a bit more for a decent car. I have always wanted a ZF, and funnily enough this one was the cheapest I could find that didn’t have 11ty-billion kms. It drives great, the ZF is silk, one owner purchased ex-demo at 1200kms, who fixed anything that it needed. Speced up XT by a Bayfords manager, full body kit, big brakes, adjustable pedals, 17’s and of course the 3V with the ZF. The ads been pulled already, but it’s the Shockwave one that was on carsales. Oh, and it was resprayed under warranty due to a default with the paint or something. Anyway, it’s very clean and smooth, and it should do me fine for a long time so long as I don’t touch it!
Which means I can still save towards my house deposit, while driving around something nice! As for fuel costs, I only drive on weekends mostly these days, so it’s of no concern. Besides, the bloke recons he got 500kms to a tank which is great to me!

The 6 speed will make it a bit easier on fuel.

Sounds alright.

I give it 2 months.

That’s fine, everyone else I know is saying the same thing, and I don’t blame anyone. I’m using this as a test to prove to myself that I can grow up a bit. I care not what anyone else thinks. I will be putting my stereo that I took out of the XR8, but I don’t count that as a real mod, I just want to enjoy my music again.
