Hi new here too, nice forum!!

Postby mattb347 » September 3rd, 2012, 12:28 pm

hi my name is matt, i drive a 92 EB XR8 with a 347 stroker (steel crank, gas research system, forged piston @ 10.8 CR, E303 cam, ported GT40P heads (414hp flow @ .500 cam lift), 1.6 roller rockers pacemakers etc etc etc etc.....)

Image

beginning to wish i bought that TT V10 Audi RS6..... oh well!!!

i love my fords, i had a (just dynoed!!!) EB with an AU XR6 motor with a GT35/40 roller on it (straight LPG also) which made 441RWHP @ 6500RPm @ 18psi boost.... then it got drowned... not happy....

i have many questions and am a qualified mechanic (and diesel mechanic) with 24 years experience, in short i know my shit... i was badly injured in a work accident and may be off for some time so i will be lurking about, i have extensive experience in racing fords and am have other projects with turbos under construction.

thanks!!

matt.

EB looks good, has the 347 been on the dyno yet?

look forward to seeing what other stuff you've worked on too.

Welcome.

Why did you go 1.6 rollers and not 1.7's?

Might push the p/v clearance a bit tight with that cam and compression ratio.

hi!
this engine has literally just been dropped into the car, i fired it this morning for the first time!! (sounds mean even through a 2.5 ex)
i need to run it in before i dyno it, i am hoping for 250 to 275 at the wheels with an exhaust change and a different ignition system (thinking ICE system, the ebay dizzy in there does the job but not really suitable to the cam curve)

the pistons were fly cut to suit the lift (i used the 1.94 intake valve and prereceded the valve seat using a hardened seat for lpg) and it all plastiguaged out ok so fingers crossed!!!

the 1.6's give me .505 at the intake and exhaust valves (total)

LPG has a nominal octance rating of 115, makes life a little safer for cock ups!!

thanks!!!

mattb.

Haha yeah wasn't questioning the clearance just answering the question about why 1.6 rockers instead of 1.7's. Sounds like a decent engine, skid pics stat.

One Mile near the RAAF base, the car was parked at Brassall at a house which was above the 1973 flood level but the surge pushed higher.... sadly..
the insurance bought the XR8 though.

the EB XR8 was a 2 owner 157,000klm mint cond car when i bought it.

well just as soon as the doctor clears me i plan to get back behind the wheel!!!

i still need an alternator and a few things to finish it off (again!!) and then organise the bigger exhaust etc, all good fun..... just need a better paying job!!!

the EB turbo was the "adventurer" pack, i owned the car for years and she gave me 243,000klm of trouble free service, was a great car. then one day i decided i wanted a lot more power. it did have the basics before the turbo was fitted, it had an EL XR6 motor, higher comped (10:1) plus cam extractors CAI XR6 computer AU injectors etc etc etc then i got beaten in a street race by a focus turbo..... so i had to get more power!!

the turbo could break traction at 200kmh.....

lol
