Thanks heaps Todd!! As much as I miss the nice growl of a V8, that is not what I want this car to be about. I feel like it would ruin it if I make it all shouty like the AU was! Plus I have never liked big exhausts on automatic cars.

LOL, appealing to my push over side Sunny! I must admit I did think about it for a minute, until I realised how much stuff around there is in fitting a diff. Plus I don’t want to mess with the speedo and trip computer. Thanks anyway though!

253 diff ratio?

What's it pulling in. 6th at 100kmh? Must be like 1200-1300 rpm or something.

Finally took a squizz at the pics Ev. Great pickup, not the best way to work towards a home loan, but it'd be sweet to cruise around in in the meantime! Love the front bar too.

First set of rims looked good. Get rid of the black side strips & put an exhaust on it & you're set.

Pretty sure it was 2.53? It sits at just on 1500rpm at 100 on cruise, yet it still has enough poke to light up the traction control on moderate stabs off the line! Then again it is only a peg leg, and the tyres on these wheels are shithouse!

LOL!! That is some fantastic justification work there Bentley!! I love it!! Yes this car really could do with a lsd, but the traction control does the job fine.

Thanks heaps Dave! I actually took a bit of a leaf out of your book with this one, going for something that is much better to rock up to work in! The AU was a bit of an embarrassment. I know, took a huge dint out of my house savings in the short term. The idea was that I spend a bit extra on something that won’t require any money spent on it. I should still have enough of a deposit in 12 months or so, as long as I stick to it!! I agree, original rims will be going back on, the decision was made when I looked at it from across the road today. Looks too plain like this. I like the no strips idea too, might look into that one, could this be done myself? No zorst though.

LOL, wot?!? Sif there was ANY chance this thing was going to get gas of any type! Thanks for the tip though! Actually, I'm curious, why not? I've heard that the Boss motors go well on SVI?

Yep, just as you said Sunny, and it is 2.53! That's definitely the tallest diff ratio I have ever had on a car! I'm even more impressed with the 6 speed, considering it is so good on the freeway yet takes off so well! No way I am messing with it by doing something silly like changing diffs!

Hahaha, thanks for the heads up Danny! I don't think it required the urgency though, not like I was going to go out and change them this weekend! :P

Eh, i'm more than happy with it as it is! Quiet is nice for once!

Ok, so how hard is it to take the ICC out of these things? I still have my head unit, amp and sub I want to put in, but not sure if I should pay someone or attempt it myself? I bought one of those plastic pocket adaptors to go where the tissue holder is. Only problem is, from what I can see, no one makes a loom adaptor for B series? I don't want to go messing around back there if it's a big job?

Danny is spot on. I only have the bog XT small screen unit, and the cheapest 'premo' ICC I can find is like $400! Plus I already have the head unit. It's a nice Eclipse CD5030, 3 pair 5V pre-out, mp3, aux, bluetooth and all that jazz. Would be a waste not to use it! Also, how would I even plug an amp into a factor ICC anyway? They don't have RCA out do they? I tried with the AU premo six stacker, and the signal was too weak for the aftermarket amp to pick up. Didn't work.

$400 is cheap man. I paid $795 for just a single cd premo ICC.
My car didn't have premo either. All I did was premo ICC, some nice 5x7 speakers, pioneer actors replacement sub and 2amps. I reckon it sounded fine and looked all stock!

I didn't really like the premo in mine and the headunit in the tissue box isn't that bad lol

It's heaps easy to install man, for the earth and the acc wires just use the cigarette lighter plug and then just ran a new power cable from the battery and put a in line fuse on it. And if your amping your speaking that makes it even easier.

The only bad thing is, its a pita to use if its in P.

I suppose I could use one of those hi/lo line converters, but it seems like a really dodgy solution. I’ve used them before, and has never worked properly.

I do very much like the look of the piano black ICC from a BF MkII Ghia, but they are almost a grand! Plus apparently there is a lot more that needs to be done to convert to dual zone climate control as well. I have no interest in a colour screen, been there done that. So I’d rather put the effort into installing my head unit. I personally have no problem with how it looks down the bottom.

Might have to take you up on that offer Josh!! I’ll bring it all round one weekend and we can hack up the dash! I already bought a replacement set of Orion 5x7 coaxial speakers. I also bought a brand new pair of high-series A-Pillar trims with the tweeter grills from Ford. I also have a pair of 6” to 5x7 mdf adaptors for the doors too, and the head unit pocket. I’ll pick up a half decent set of splits, and should be set to go!

Besides, I couldn’t help myself and spent the money I had aside to get the stereo installed. Bought another set of Toyo Teo tyres! I swear this would be like my 5th new set, I should have shares in Toyo! Ended up going 235/45 on the nicer multi-spoke 17’s I bought the car with. I am assured they would be fine on these rims. They feel great to me!! Also got them to machine the front disks as well. I am in love with this car all over again!! So much smoother and quieter, no more brake shudder or noise! Plus these tyres are soooo much better!

Hahaha, not everyone can be a savvy entrepreneur and have owned and sold every B-Series FPV F6 ever made! :P My life isn't that exciting!

And to continue that note, changed the oil and filter today. Had a look at doing the plugs too, looks like they are fairly easily accessible. Thought I would jump on AFF to find out what people use, and discovered that apparently it is a suicide mission! The 3V runs some crazy special three part plug or something? And if you don't remove them 100% correctly they bust appart! I asked the bloke at my local Repco when I bought the oil, and they only list Champion items for this motor, at $52 EACH!! :banghead: Can anyone on here confirm this?

Just buy genuine ford plugs Ev. I think you gotta let the car warm up, spray wd40 around the plugs and let it sit overnight then undo when cold. Feel free to correct me tho.
I remember when Bentley worked at ford, he said they quote to remove heads ect on 3v's due to spark plugs cracking or some shit.

My brother in-law has a shockwave ba.never been a fan of the shock wave but I got him a ghia garnish and ghia grille and looks a lot better. And the sr kit is a nice touch too!

Thanks for the advice blokes, but I don't think I am going to risk it. According to the service manual, they are good for 150,000kms, and its only done 128. So I'll just leave it till I get a chance to take it in to my mechanic.

Thanks Dylan, the Shockwave has realy grown on me! It looks great in the sun after a wash! I actually really want to get both those Ghia items, but can't seem to find either. My local Ford quoted $320 for just the upper front grille, minus badge! Didn't ask about the garnish. Would love to do BF2, but from what I can see the entire front end is different parts!

If it has 128 on those plugs, I wouldn't leave it another day !
Make sure you take it to someone who knows what they are doing otherwise it will end in

The problem is that the plugs are in there for so long and the metals grab.
But thats doesn't worry ford because it's outside the warranty period.

The boots on the coils stick and if your not easy on them you'll pull the coil off the boot, not really an issue as you can stick them back on, just need to be sure you don't damage the wire inside. But it's not really a concern because you should be replacing the coils too.

The spark plugs break because it's seized in the head.
Like LOW_XR said, soak it in crc when hot and when cold the following morning try to remove them.

It's not a hard job just requires some patience.
I enjoy the symphony of mechanical harmony,

Well, I spoke to an awesome bloke down at my local Ford service department who is a tech there, and he gave me a couple of things to try to help. He suggested getting a can of Upper Engine Cleaner and blasting that directly down the throttle body to get rid of some of the carbon build up first. Then as Dylan suggested, soak the plugs in WD40, and hope for the best! From what I can find, there is only two options for replacement plugs between the Champion, which are a one piece design, and the retarded Motorcraft three piece!

As for the coils, the one I unbolted came out fine. The plug hole was full of dirt and shit though, so might have to get a can of compressed air or something to clean them out. I’ve found an aftermarket set on eBay for $220 which seems ok.

Servers me right for buying another V8! :banghead:

Can you blame me? It’s not my fault they are a stupid design! Still, once I can organise to get them swapped out, I won’t have to worry about them for another 50-odd thousand kms, which would take me years to rack up! All good!!
