Moosemans "Moosey"

Postby mooseman » November 14th, 2007, 9:36 pm

I thought I better do one of these since I finally did an exterior mod.

Well my name is Rod and im 20 years old. My ride is a 1998 EL Fairmont. Brought from a 70-something year old stock as a rock with full Ford service history around august last year. Since then I have done the following mods;

- Reco'd EF XR6 engine
- 3.23 LSD (soon to be 3.9 lokka)
- Manual conversion from EF XR6
- AU LTD woodgrain and leather steering wheel
- Hitek (I think) extractors
- Wade 1004-112 regrind cam
- Dual fuel system (bloody power sucker)
- Lukey 2.5" exhaust
- 18" Advanti Volt rims as of today!

A few of you would have seen the beast in action at the recent drag day. Only managed a best of 15.6 but thats with shithouse retred tyres that wouldn't let me launch with more then 2k rpm revs. Should be good for a low 15 with decent tyres. Next plans for the car are to install the Lokka that I brought, find either a nice EL XR or leather interior and then save for some boost and a straight gas conversion. I have attached some pics of the car I took tonight.

Looking good Moosey, the new rims suit it well. You should clean that rubber off the rear bar though, if you leave it too long it becomes nearly impossible to get it clean again. 15.6 isn't bad for the mods done, did you remove the mixer or was it run on LPG ?

It was run on petrol but I didnt remove the mixer, to be honest I wouldn't know which part the mixer is on the gas shit and how to remove it! I did remove the rubber from the drag day but I accidently got some more on there last night....

Nice car mate. Just one question, did you ever drive the car with the stock camshaft in it at all?
If so, did you find it to be better or worse than the Wade 1004-112 cam?
Reason I ask is because my cars performance has gone right down after I installed the same camshaft..

Yes I did drive the car with the XR cam in it. If the car wasn't on LPG then the cam would have come straight out. The idle on petrol is shithouse but luckily the LPG fixes that. Its not the best cam and I will be upgrading asap but it did give a fair whack of top end improvement. One thing is I had to redo the timing because it was a bit out of whack. Have you tried that?

What cam did you make this power with EBII XR6 - 148.2rwkw N/A or was it on the JMM dyno.

Take it to Calder Steve, then you'll see if it's making the power it should be or not.

Cheers

Looks good, should feel completely different with 3.9 gears :D

I reckon silverwalls for the tyres would look mad (hint hint)
