Check all your vacuum lines. Especially the one to the map sensor.

did you swap the dizzy over? also check the map sensor, when my mate done the conversion he damaged the map sensor in the process and it caused similar dramas. also timing can do that too

nope didnt swap dizzy and checks map sensor still no change on the thermostat housing i have a pink plug in with vacuum lines on it and the one on my ed mpfi that i got all the stuff off to do the conversion has a electronic plug would that be the problem?

Lol I was using a 4spd auto ecu when mines 3 spd could that have been the issue going to try this again with a 3spd mpfi ecu out of an na fairlane

And does the injection wiring have to suit your transmisson?

no, all injection looms are pretty much the same. the TPS and ICS plugs do change in the EB series tho

Has anyone done a 3 speed to 4 speed conversion on a cfi car?

I've got a guy on fb who had a cfi 3 speed wagon and the auto is stuffed, I was thinking a 4 speed would be the way to go.

Is there such thing as a 4 speed auto cfi ecu?

From the sounds of this thread it looks like an el ecu, thermofans and bbm with the 4 speed might be the way to go, with something to disable smartlock...

(Don't worry, I had all the correct PPE on before commencing this thread mine)

There was eb with 4 speed and cfi so should be able to use the ecu out of one of them?

My EA is 4spd and CFI

it will require a loom change, possibly through the whole car as the body loom, dash loom and engine loom all seem to mate up and wont change between GL and s-pac etc

How are the lengths of the tailshafts and gearbox mounts etc? Does anyone know if the 4 speed mount is the same as 3 speed etc? Flex plates the same?

I think if it has the 3 speed the mount on the body is further forward so you would need the crossmember from a 5 speed ea to bolt the 4 speed in ?
