I did mean an equivalent BF XR8 Tristan!! I'm sure FG's go a fair bit better. I'd give you a go though, just for hilarity! I am still yet to have a proper go with anyone in this thing, so have no idea how it actually goes.

Yes Hus, I know they are full wank spec, but that's the point! It's supposed to be a joke! Not that I'd do it anyway, it already has my EJB plates on it. Plus, as you said, wouldn't work unless it was actually fast. Maybe one day when I plonk a KB under the bonnet! :P

On a different note, it now has the stock XT badge on the boot lid as it should. No no one will know its a V8 at all, even if you were in it!

No, I will be a pansy, cos I know it won't stop there. I'll get a zorst, then that will turn into an intake, then a tune, then a diff, then suspension, then a Kenne Bell kit! Then I'll have to sell it because I've used all my money again on it, and the never ending cycle continues! :banghead:

It's not really the money I am worried about, I can just go see Allan at Blitz who will hook me up with a nice custom system for a good price. It's just going down the same old road that I don't want to do with this car. I've now properly started using it for work this week, and just barely got 300kms out of the last tank, so I think lpg is pretty much inevitable. Which would make any other mechanical mods pointless in my opinion.

LOL!! That's brilliant Dave, good one!! Although I hope you didn't mean that as if I am wildeb spec here, cos that's also harsh! :P

True. All the boosted cars on here running LPG are pointless....

NART.

If you have a V8 and don't put a big exhaust on it, you should have bought a 6.

But you should lower it, exhaust, extractors, tune, CAI, Kenne Bell, tint the windows, upgrade the ICC and put 2 subs in it. I'll probably be in the market for a new car in 2 years, that would suit me nicely :D

i'd just put an XR8 exhaust on it, should be cheap, shouldn't make it too much louder, but a lot better then the factory 3V exhaust (assuming the BF one is the same as the BA one)

Yes yes, having a silent V8 is fair aids. Of course I'd love to put a nice exhaust on this thing, maybe I should just grow the hell up and actually have some self control for once, and just stop at that. I've been looking every now and then, but can't seem to come across a factory XR8 system. Plus, it would need to be modified anyway, at the very least by hacking off the tip as it would hit the lower skirt on my rear bar. The one on there looks like a little dumper just before the bar, as there is no cutout for a tip. So if I do get one, I''l probably just get Allan to build one for me.

I'm sorry Aaron, I probably should have elaborated. You are right, there are some tuff cars on gas, I just meant that it would be pointless for me on this car after putting it on lpg. Cos I know I'd end up giving it stick, which would defeat the purpose of lpg anyway.

yea the problem is you pay people to do shit for you and go to "experts" if you bought a used system and fitted it yourself it would cost you 2 fifths of **** all and you wouldnt have to grow up but each to their own. Its not hard to cut an exhaust and screw a new tip on yourself if you cant weld.

Stock cars are great but reason ive sorta steered to a xr6t instead of ss utes is because itd do my head in having an ss without all the good stuff hahaha not so bad on the 6s dont care that its quiet and the rest of it.

anyway enjoy the car

Thanks Max, you are definitely right, and I am trying to do more stuff myself. However something like an lpg system is way beyond my capabilities, and would need to be certified anyway. I'd be fine with getting reamed for something like that to make sure its done properly. I know exactly how you feel, not a day goes by when I don't think about how much awesome could be added to this car, even for a minute!

Haha, that sounds good to me Josh, i'll have to swing past and take a squiz hey!

Also if your only getting 300k to a tank of say 60l petrol even with an svi system you'll be only getting 250k out of 60l gas tank.

Is that just round town driving?

300ks to 60L. That's 20l/100. And its stock. I'd sell it just on that. Clearly the wrong car for the job.

Well i think the tank in this is smaller than the AU. I can only ever get just on 50l into it. Plus that last tank wasn't exactly brimmed, and consisted of all city traffic with the aircon on. Still not enough to make me sell it though! :)

I'm pretty sure they're still 68 litre, the same since about the XD.

Economy has gone from 20L/100km to 16L/100km. Run the tank down and you'll get an extra 100km to a tank. Problem fixed!

Rather than speculate, write down the # of litres you put in and how many KMs were on the odo. Then work backwards from the previous reading to work out how many litres you used and how many KM you did. I think you will find its better than 16L/100, unless you are doing a LOT of stop/start.

I hate it when somebody says I get a week out of a tank/ it costs heaps to run/ I used half a tank just driving to work etc. The difference of 5-10L not filling it up properly can be the difference of normal economy to shitty economy!

Sent him a pm, hopefully should be able to grab it this weekend. From what i can see it's straight bolt on, bar the tip.

'City' driving is very subjective though.

Is it driving around the CBD all day, or is it driving into the CBD along a freeway during non-peak times?

Yeah, mine gets 300 to 60 litres... trip computer says 15 though.. stupid thing.

yours would have to be better, my average speed is 35ish :P

yours should be better based on the 6 speed alone.

mine used to get 400+ then i changed the fuel pump... don't understand how that could make a difference though.

Lol, my fuel pump stays then! In other news, changed the exhaust on Saturday. Turns out the stock one was a factory six cylinder unit. Drove up to Ballarat Friday night and picked up a factory XR8 twin system from a BF. Took it to my local exhaust joint, and got talked into upgrading it! So it now has the stock XR8 y piece and rear section, with a new Genie centre straight through muffler. Up side is it now sounds like a V8, down side is the is an annoying vibration under my feet at low revs. Hopefully it disappears after it carbons up a bit.

Haha, sorry Josh. Although i still may take it off your hands if the centre muffler fits on my XR8 system? If this Genie thing i got doesn't quiet down I will take it out and put your stock one in. I'll have to swing round one day and show you what i mean.

Maybe make sure it's not contacting the body anywhere. Wobble the system around a bit by grabbing the tips and moving it all about. Even hop under the centre part and jiggle it. If its a rev dependant vibration I'm tipping that's the issue.

Aaaah, there's an idea, didn't think of that one. Thanks heaps Danny! :drinks2: I hope that's all it is, cos i thought it felt like resonating vibration.
