The Control Discs keep failing too. The Merc sounds orgasmic but.

Couple of Q's.
Why the **** has the Gizz gone to Holden & even dumber gone to a dud team like Tekno?
Why is the field all Commodores?
Why are the Commodores running the traditional Falcon wing?

Giz "retired" then came back and stabbed SBR in the back.
The field is made up of mostly Commodores because Holden give sponser ship money to their teams unlike Ford. (Why do you think Jason Bright left and D'Alberto?) Our only team that gets any sponsership money at all is FPR)
The Commodores are running the Falcon wing because it is a new shape - Commodore originally ran that wing on the VP, It is more aerodynamic that the Twin Post Wing.

Here's the story I have been told about GIZ,
He never said he was retiring or leaving for good (others said that not him), he was taking a break and needed to back away from the scene, the way SBR went about signing him then changing the car and the way the team was working didnt float well for him, too much political shit he just wanted to win races and didnt believe he had anymore of a chance where he was. 9 weeks later he was approached by Holden/tekno to drive, a week or so later he was signed up to drive for 2013, sounds like the deal has given him the freedom to race in the NZ supertourers, do few rounds of the NZ drift championship as well as some porsche races, were as last year he was told he couldn't even drive in a couple of enduros over here. Sounds like he got a good deal to me, i'd give my right testy to be able to do any of that stuff

Pretty much how I understand it too.

Driving for sbr meant too much in the way of sponsorship stuff to do, and with tekno its a small but actually very competitive unit. Their cars are all t8 built.
They should do well this year.

But he was signed on till 2015. The terms of his release from SBR was NOT TO DRIVE OR TEST A V8SUPERCAR IN 2013. A term in which he broke. Ross Stone is still considering taking legal action to put him out of his 2013 drive for good.

Yup Holden have much deeper pocket than jimmy or Ross. There will be a quiet back door deal done, and all will be happy.

I don't think its a case of Junior wanting to step out of the seat, I'd say the new driver is paying for his drive and this is how DJR are coming up with a little money for the time being.

I sill reckon with all these new teams, its still going to be as crap as its been the last few years... What happened too the ATCC? i know its not here anymore, but i reckon the early 90s through to the 00s was the best V8 racing!
I guess will see how this year goes anyway...

DVS results for Practice 1 & 2 have been added under the Clipsal 500 post, As well as pictures of the fastest cars. Stoner has got off to a good start and looks to have a bright future ahead of him!
In other catergorys, Nick Percat secured a drive in the Carrera Cup and on his first outing took Pole for Race 1. Steven Johnson will also race a season in Carrera Cup.
I will add photos of Dean Fiores Dodo #88 car in the Livery section when it hits the track tomorrow.
Cheers, Mitch.

FRIDAY RE-CAP

The first day of Clipsal and the first competitive outing for Car of the Future made for a Great specticle. First up were the Practice sessions, Red Bull were a little weaker than everyone expected, GRM & Scott McLaughlin however were a real suprise, The 19 year old topping the 3rd Practice session. FPR were where expected, Shane Van Gisbergen impressed and DJR were at the back of the field all day.

In the Carrera Cups first race of the season, Nick Percat very much impressed but was unable to take the win due to Reining Champion Craig Bairds defensive driving style. Steven Richards placed 3rd and set the Fastest lap of the race, Warren Luff took 4th spot and Steven Johnson in the #17 Porsche finished down in 8th.

In the Development Series, Chaz Mostert took Pole in his FPR prepared Falcon, The first 5 Cars of the Grid were all Fords. Unfortunately for Chaz, the Pole didn't transfer into a Win and while coming very close in the last few laps to passing Ash Walsh, Aaron Tebb crashed at the Sweeper which caused a Yellow flag at Turn 9 and ruined Chaz's chances of getting past. One to watch tomorrow will be Casey Stoner, he showed promise in the early parts of the race, over taking two cars and getting upto 9th, before losing a few posistions and developing a Flat tyre which sent him into the wall at turn 3.

As for The Aussie Racing Car Series, Two races were held today with Adam Gowans in his Toyota Aurion taking out both wins.

Next up, We had the V8 Supercar Qualifying session, 15 Holden, 6 Fords, 4 Nissans and 3 AMG's. As expected Holden filled the majority of the Top 10 with only the Fords of Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom making it in the Top 10, The top placing Nissan was Michael Caruso's #36 in 13th. German Maro Engel had a disasterous session blowing an oil line and spinning out on his own oil, He will start tomorrows race from Dead Last. The highest placed Erebus car was Lee Holdworth in a disapointing 23rd. David Reynolds was another disapointment finishing the session in 21st. Rookie Scott Pye just missed the Top Ten shootout finishing in 11th however another Rookie in Scott McLaughlin was able to get into the shootout as well as his GRM Teammate Alex Premat. The Garry Rogers cars look to be quick here at Adelaide. But the pole man was SHANE VAN GISBERGEN! In his first competitive outing in a Holden. Rumours are milling Ross Stone is planning to take legal action tonight and put him out of a seat for the rest of the season, Thus however will not stop the man from doing his best to transform pole into a race win.

In the first V8 Utes race for the season, It was Nathan Pretty who took the win in his VE Commodore Ute. Midway through the race, Kim Jane clipped the tyre bundle at Turn 1 and hit the wall front on to the left, He ended up in the middle of the track and was almost collected but luckily he was able to get his car going and move onto the gravel. Ryal Harris and David Sieders rounded out the podium in their FG Falcons.

Just because his driving a Holden doesnt mean his not a Ford man. His still got his F6, Still got his Effy. Facebook cover photo is still a Ford and so is his profile picture.

SATURDAY RE-CAP

Saturday was quite an Interesting day at Clipsal, First the V8 Supercars were out for an early morning practice session of which Tony D'Alberto topped followed by Dean Fiore.

Next up was the Dunlop Development series in which Chaz Mostert led every lap was able to take his Falcon to Victory Lane. Stoner put in a good effort to come from 30th to 14th in this race. 1st - 7th were all Fords. You can veiw our original Clipsal post for Championship Standings.

Andy Gowans took his third win of the weekend in Aussie Racing Cars making it a Hatrick. The Green Toyota Aurion looks one to watch this year!

In the V8 Ute's, it was a controversial Race 2. Kris Walton made his way up the field to take the win but in a post race penalty it was taken away from him due to earlier contact with his teammate Ryan Hansford. The penalty handed the Victory to Andrew Fisher in his Jesus Racing Falcon!

Craig Baird took out the 2nd race in Carrera Cup, But it wasn't all his way this time. Steven Richards managed to get past and was in the lead for two turns on lap 8, but Baird got the better of him and got back past. On lap 1, Steven Johnson and Karl Reindler were involved in a tangle and Steven Johnson was out of the race. Nick Percat finished 3rd in his 2nd Carrera Cup race.

Next up were the V8's, The first race of the season and it was a Great one. With Van Gisbergen on pole it was expected he would lead into the first turn but that wasn't to be when he attempted to start in neutral. Mark Winterbottom led the first lap before Gearbox troubles kicked in and he had to retire, Van Gisbergen later caught up to third towards the end of the race but developed an oil leak and also had to retire. Will Davison was the highest placed Ford in 2nd, Lowndes won the race and Whincup finished third. It was a Great Drive by Frenchman Alex Premat to take 4th and his rookie teammate in his debut race to take 6th. Look out for Scott McLaughlin - He looks to be a future star! Rick kelly was the best of the ALtimas finishing in 11th whilst Tim Slade finished in 15th and was the best of the Merc's. Lee Holdsworth ran into trouble when the pedals got to hot, He was left with burns and blisters to the feet at the end of the race.

After the V8s it was The Australian GT Championship up next, Erebus Motorsport took this race out in their SLS AMG thanks to a very talented driver in Craig Baird. The Team owner, Betty Clamenko a happy lady after seeing her 3 AMG E63's roll out on the track but the win in the GT Championship just made her day!
