Howdy

Hi, I have been a member on here since August 2007, just looking around.

Why am I here?

Putting an EL engine into an XF.

The engine has been rebuilt with the following. The rods are standard, just machined up, the pistons are decomp hypertec pistons and ACL race series rings, and the engine was fully balance. The head has had a bit of work though. All new XR6 valves, the chambers are all cc'd, port and polish, double race springs, new crow cam, new timing chain and gears, and probably other stuff I have forgotten about! 6Boost exhaust manifold, T04 .60 front/1.15 rear, TIAL V44 wastegate, Aussie Desert Cooler Aluminum Rad and IC.

Where am I at?

Engine is in...well it sits in the bay and has 2 bolts holding it there it isn't very permanent. Spent the last few months trying to get the radiator to fit. I have learnt a little about fabrication and welding with that little adventure. Currently trying to get a set of thermo fans and shroud to fit into the little space between the rad and pulleys. This normally wouldn't be difficult, however the radiator is about 3 times thicker than standard! Doesn't leave much room. This saga is nearly finished...hopefully.

Where to next?

I am looking for a good EL A/C pump, to begin setting up A/C. Want to find someone who will help me out with a fabricated plenum and get that out of the way. Mount the IC.

Cheers

Shaun

Welcome aboard Shaun! Sounds like quite a project you have going on there.

We would all love to see some pics of the car and various goodies you have for it. Start a thread in the "In the Build" section to keep us up to date on how things are progressing.

As for the bits and pieces that you need next... There is an "Items / Cars Wanted" section for posting that you are looking for something. There is also plenty of discussion on plenums and manifolds going around here, just hit up the search for some answers and then ask some questions. Same with mounting intercoolers and piping.

Thank for the welcome.

What ever it will make. This time around it is just to get the conversion done and all the other bits and pieces in then I will build another engine to go for power.

The T04 I am using is good for around 500 - 550hp...so I have been told. I don't know what the engine is capable of handling. The other major consideration with what the engine can handle is the fact that I  built the engine together and I have 0 experience with any of this. This is my very first project. I am learning as I go. All the other bits and pieces (blow-off, intercooler, radiator, etc) is all over engineered to handle more power so I can upgrade turbo and engine easily without needing to change everything else to suit.

Nice, good to hear people having a go.
+ I like the way you've left turbo upgrades easy for future improvements. Nice

Pics?

Here are a couple of pictures of the project. One is of the first trial fit of the engine and one is of the radiator after I had made some mounts.
