ba xt wagon auto trouble

Postby JONNYB » August 18th, 2013, 3:35 pm

ok so i didnt actuakly know where to post this coz im a member of the forum however i dont know much about it where to post etc.

the other day i was driving home from work and my auto started slipping and over the last week and a half its gradually getting a bit worser, it when in drive and just barely touching the acc pedal will slip and stutter alot
and also where on the das there is the D under the speedo with flicker to N and R and P and the performace triptronic thing wont work when this happens also the the cruise control (buti think the cc is playing up coz broke the abs sensor when i changed the bearing the other day).

me and my dad the other day drained the auto coz we where told its a common problem for ba rads to leak water into the auto so we fixed all that re ran a new smaller auto cooler in front of the radiator and set up all the hoses. after that (yesterday i took it down the street for a test drive and it still slips im really worried that its going to cost me a shite load of cash and well i need some answers from fellow ford fanatics before i take it to my mechanic.

any questions on the symptoms ask away.

Hey mate if its slipping real bad chances are your auto is trashed.

When you said you drained the auto was that a prevention method or did your auto have water in it?

Think it would be cheaper and easier just to pick up a good second hand gearbox and chuck it in mate. Will be cheaper then one problem solving check at your mechanics.

My xr6t trans was slipping and going to limp mode and it was low starting voltage that done it my ebay scan tool had a few codes. I put a new battery in and its been fine since.

Drained the auto coz I was told this is what they also at around 205000 to -220000 they get water in them that leaks in from the main rad so you have to hook up a secondary mini rad to stop the leak and also drain the auto out coz it'll have water in it. So we did that and nope still slipping. Not happy Jan. just spent a grand on wheels and such lowering it etc

Yes they only get water in them if the wall in the radiator breaks. What did the oil look like? Was it nice and red or was it a really crappy looking color? If the auto has had water in it. It is most likely shagged mate. I have a good second hand auto here if you wanna try another box. But it is hard to diagnose from your description as someone else suggested it could be volts but I have never had the auto slipping with a volts problem tho.

Yeah shouldn't be murky mate. If you got water in there and you have been driving it around fair chance its stuffed.

I will pm you about the box
