That's fucked up, I would have thought now you can retune zf's you would be ale to use any box and just reflash it to what it's supposed to be.

I still would have fixed it though, just throw the whole motor and box away, and drop in a fg xr8 motor and box... If they can make them work in non b series cars I don't see why it's so impossible to swap boxes between b series.

That is some shit luck, and really bad for ZF owners out there! I had a F6 with a cactus ZF once, they're as bad as a cactus BTR when they can't make up their mind and clunk and thunk around like all kinds of bullshit. If they hold it together they're an amazing box though, they got the tune perfect in the FG, just have to mind the way you back off at WOT or hard throttle otherwise you get a mad thump.

I've had a mate who had luck with a pressure flush on the trans, new radiator and pressure flush on the cooling system on a turbo BTR that did the milkshake. Did you try that?

Sucks about the ZF. I probably would have converted it to T56 and be done with the slushbox and the fucky computer bullshit.

I like the renault tho. Do they make them for men?

Yeop, I miss The Baron like every day! Worst part is my girlfriend is turned on by the sound of a V8! :(

My best mate had a line on a 'staff price discount' for runouts when VE2 came out. The mistake was taking another mates hot girlfriend to the dealer! Full finance, lost $3k on it.

I agree, I was ok with that at the time. Shouldn't have bought it in the first place, but I do dumb things! As for whats next? Like I said before, I am aiming to hit my boss up for a company car. I asked him about it, and he said to talk to him when my 12 months comes around mid November. So he didn't exactly say no! Didn't say yes either! :P Anyway, my ultimate would be an FPV GS, but if/when that gets shot down, I'd go an SS Ute. If that gets shot down, XR6 Turbo. And if that gets shot down, XR6 Eco-Lpi. If the whole thing gets shot down, well, probably just go for AU number five!! Either way, it will not be another bum-dragger that's for sure!

TUFED6 wrote:Yeah the red AU was the mintest shoulda kept it and just fix shit that broke.

This is definitely true, I still am and always will kick myself for getting rid of The Baron. No idea how many, but like you said was a small number. This is why I had trouble finding a replacement, as apparently it needed to be from the same combo car. Even a Boss ZF wouldn't have worked, or so I was told....

*...and another one gone, another one gone. Another one bites the dust!*

The Turd is no longer. Have been experiencing major dramas with it lately, and it has finally given up the ghost for good. I managed to snap a drive shaft! It doesn't even move under it's own power anymore, killed it good! The mechanic I take it to said he will help me out by getting his wrecker to buy it for a gorilla, which I am happy with.

So, things are in limbo at the moment. I am waiting on my boss to get back to me this week, as there are a few changes happening logistics wise with my job. So those need to pan out first before my boss can give me an answer about a company car. If that falls though, I will just pick myself something up for about $10k. It will be another Ford, not making the Euro box mistake ever again! What exactly I get all depends on the work outcome. I need to find out if I will still be driving for work during the day or not before I make a decision. Right now, I am back in an AU which I've borrowed off a mate. Series 1 I6 ute on factory lpg, it's putz, but better than walking!

Oh I am well aware of the silver XR8, bloke want's drug money for it! I sold my red one for $10k all up over a year ago now, and it had more shit done to it than that one!

I would love another one, but as i said, it all depends on the work situation. I'd only buy another V8 if I don't have to go anywhere during the day. I could handle commuting in it to and from, but that's it. If company car is denied, and I still have to drive for work, then I'm looking at an FG XT or G6 if I can find a decent one cheap enough. Preferably converted to gas injection, but I don't like my chances. And I'd put a trans cooler on it asap.

Correct! Had a bad run with the last couple. The Turd didn't have any power to do stupid shit anyway, apparently it's a known weak issue or something.

I don't reckon that silver one is stupidly over priced, expensive yes, but not completely insane.

Those XR's are in a weird place price wise at the moment, real mint ones are going for 9-10k (a mate of mine is chasing 12.5 for his, that's drug money lol) but then there's people picking up cheap average ones for 3-4k still.

I think 12-13k for that silver one would be right on the money.
It looks like a really clean car and its a little different to your average au xr.

Your red one wasn't the cleanest ev and you were in a rush to sell remember.
As nstg8a said the prices for them are all over the place, I got mine but there was like 5-6 people wanting it, I just got there first with the money.

Hmm, I suppose so. It does seem in better nick than mine was that's for sure. Anyway, it still all depends on if I will still have a job at the end of the year or not. I need 100% assurance my job will be ok before I go throwing my cash away again! Also, the thought of getting around in an FG G6 is becoming more and more appealing!

So you bought a BA 3v, straight swapped it for the clio, busted a driveshaft and then sold it to the wreckers for a grand?

Please do everyone a favour and start buying Holdens please.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

Haha, I should start contributing to removing more Crummydores from the roads!

That was the plan, but I actually have the Turd back. Turned out just to be a broken circlip which they tacked back on for me so the car is now driveable again. I still don't trust it anymore, so I've parked it up at work and will continue to drive my mates AU ute until I know what is happening with work. Then the Turd will either be traded in or sold as is if I get a company car.

Absolutely Dave, I wish i could, but unfortunately at this point in time my job requires me to have a car as I get sent to clients offices during the day. Also, my current apartment is an hours walk (one way) from the closest train station. :(
