Why go into debt for a car that is still depreciating at a rapid rate when you can get an au which is almost at it's lowest?

And imo au is the most reliable falcon, my xr8 still had the original clutch in it at 178k and drove perfect (noisy thrust bearing only).
My au wagon has 368k on it and everything still works on it perfectly, rw check last week as I'm selling it and they picked 5 things 2 were globes out.

Your job requires a courier vehicle - as Josh says do you *really* want to fork out $$$ for a depreciating FG XT/G6/G6ET? Not to mention the insurance, or the mascara running down your rouge cheeks when the first carpark scrape occurs.

Stick with the Turd (Tampon?) or get another AU (shitter). Or, and I'm serious here, a 10yo Camry. My gf's '99 Camry is batshit boring, but faultless (nearing 300k), & has a large boot for couriering all kinds of shit.

Both very valid and excellent points, which I am very much considering. As I said, the idea of driving a G6 is very nice, but only if I could get one on the road for $10k. Which is unlikely for a good low km example. Also, I would be driving it always with a little bit of residual fear of the ZF in the back of my mind, even with a trans cooler. I think my BF has put me off a late model Falcon unless it's under warranty!

Which is where the suggesting of yet another AU seems so appealing! I know them and trust them. All the failures I have ever had in an AU have been self inflicted. As with Josh, my red XR8 was one of the most reliable cars I have owned!
Then, I have always had a soft spot for a Nissan Pulsar SSS or a mid-90's Camry!

Again, all of this is still pending on my work outcome, which I still waiting on word from my boss. He keeps telling me to hold out from buying a car, not sure if that is a good or bad thing?

2000 Ford Falcon XR6 AU II Cars for sale in SA - Carsales Mobile

All this talk of au's got me looking. There are some well priced xr's there. Couldn't go wrong I don't think. Would consider one myself, for family car..

Hmm links didn't work.

One red manual , 160 k's 7k
Silver 123 k's 9500.

Actually, sounds a bit expensive now that I say it. Void post.

I'll give you $8k for the Senator if you can supply a roady. I pay cash, you take, good deal! ;-)

I actually almost bought a Rolla before the Turd, an 87 lift back with a sunroom and 5 speed with under 200ks for $2500 with a rwc. Hindsight is wonderful thing!! :banghead:

Give me that 8k. Keep the Clio now it's repaired.
Don't buy another car and mess with/break it.
And in a years time I'll give you 6k cash back.

There is actually a story behind the Camry thing. One of my best mate's mum had one back in highschool, and we used to nick it and drive out to Essendon airport (pre dfo days) and do Maccas tray drifting in it!! Aaah, those were the days!

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

So I'm guessing your boss is offering you a company car Monday?

Thanks fellas, pretty stoked with the score! She's in much better nick than the kms suggest, that's for sure. Took it to get it detailed this morning at the local hand car wash, and the bloke offered to buy it!! I probably could have made a quick gorilla, but I cbf. I'm just happy I finally have a car i (hopefully) don't have to worry about! I can pick good one's most of the time, I just have a habit of turning them into not so good ones. I would like that not to happen this time.
Anyway, been driving it around all day, clocked up 250kms so far since i filled the gas tank last night, and it still has half a tank left! Took a couple of snaps while the sun was out too.

Wouldn't that be hilarious! But alas, that will not be happening. I asked again and I just got the "not sure yet" answer I've gotten all along. Pretty sure if he was warm to the idea it'd happened by now. I'm happy with this outcome anyway!
