R.I.P Damo's XR6 1995-2007

Postby Sunboost » August 4th, 2007, 11:15 pm

Yep, the day came to finally pull this beast apart.

Some of you guys have seen over in the F.S section that Gilly and I have purchased this car together to collect a few parts for ourselves and then ebay / forum whore the rest of it all. So far I have claimed the diff, steering wheel, cam and a few other non-event bits.

Gilly will be taking some gearbox related parts for himself.

Anyways, we picked it up today. Was a bit of challenge to get a car that doesn't steer nor run on to a trailer but Indian's being Indian's we did our best and managed to get it on and buckled down with a few extra dents in the body.

Pictures below:

It wasn't at all hard to pull the radiator support out. The car had been in a prior front end stack that hadn't repaired too well, all the spot welds were very weak and the radiator support just popped straight off. Never seen that before.

R.I.P.

It was such a pleasure to drive. It felt heaps quicker than my EL, but never managed to beat it on the 1/4 mile.

Happy memories of flying across to Adelaide with Damo to pick it up. It did the Adelaide to Melbourne trip piece of cake. Overtaking was fun!

It's a EF bro, not EL. And why do you say "s1k" - "sick" isn't in the swear filter!!!!

$200 for serpentine belt setup including the blue belt and a new power steering pump off a AU.

Its going out like every great E-Series should though.

uhmmm ? :? There is about 20 days left.

It is a shame to see the car go out like this. Poor EF, I didn't have the time or patience to part it myself. I won't have my license for quite some time either, so there was no point repairing it. :(

The car's fully stripped. Nothing left of it now. Just the fuel tank, wiring and heater box.

Ok I just realised in all the fking around we didn't actually get any decent pics to show the stripped state of the car. We were just stuffing around body slamming the roof and spray painting trying to be cool like the PATJET kustoms brothers (+ whiteboy) that we forgot to take proper photos lol.

Anyways, you'll get the idea:

Image
Motor comes out thanks to some Bobcat power.

Image
Wasn't the safest engine removal, so we got the bucket on the bobcat to jack the car up again so we could readjust the chassis stands. The car had been jerked around violently during the removal of the motor lol.

Image
RATJET pose. Dead empty engine bay in the distance.

Image
More RATJET posing.

Just for MOOSEMAN!

Just saving the pictures out of this thread, I'll look back in a few years time and remember how bad I fucked up. Thought I'd give it a bump for those wondering what ever happened to my car.

Thanks mate, I ripped some good skids for the crowd. I remember at the end of the day I was just lapping around with Steve and getting owned by his turbo beast, he would sit there waiting for me to finish my skids lol. I think everyone else had given up on racing by that time. The highlight of that day was over taking 20 + skylines in one hit on the hume on the way up there, got a mention on their forum too.

to what ?

oh wait I get ya.

Big thanx to ANFZ and WHEEZY, congrats on such good organisation, once again another successful event and was good to see quite a few 31's representing the club really well. While we were all cruising up there all in a row we were being overtaken by wetspot.com.... Really well behaved driving there and while at the event. Well done every1... I left early so didnt see any of Nancees later runs but i think in the 1st session b4 Benny got on board there was 13.8 run..... Blue we need pics of my car coz apprently it was pretty bad..... 4got to set the damper to hard so the arse was boucing around during the burnouts.

Thanx guys
Liam

http://forum.r31skylineclub.com/index.p ... 3.175.html down the bottom of that page I made a post with links to skids, and pics on AFF, shame I can't get on there to view them. :(
