no, its an auto but has subtle mods to boost power a little, such as extractors, sports cats, single stainless sports muffler and larger exit pipe. also performance air filter. i also only use semi synth oil, bp ultimate fuel, platinum plugs and sports ignition leads, new sports shocks and brakes, plus power chip will post pics asap.

http://www.shiftkits.com.au or build it yourself ;) It's good cheap fun ($10 DIY) but a mechanical shift kit would be better

Paint is farked mate. As in, paint AND undercoat missing in some places, massively blistered pearl coat all over bonnet & roof & starting on boot...

Nah it just increases the line pressure & makes the BTR shift a lot quicker/harder.

so for the idiots around like me what does it really do to justify the 100 bux?

i see they say it prolongs the life of the box on the site.

but does it give you better shifts or something?

i'm sure it provides more fun, but increasing longevity of the 'box' seems unlikely as i know lots of people who have had difficulty with their auto after to many "manual' changes

not the same brotek.

A shift kit speeds up gear changes so there is less slippage when changing gears. Less slippage = less heat and longer trans life.

The less time the box takes to change gear, the less strain it puts on it, therefore longer life?

Shift kits are fun but you do get sick of them so make sure you have a switchable one. plus the looks on peoples faces when they see an old falcon chirping gears is funny. they probably just think the car is fucked :P

this is true, but u are forgetting about about driveline snatch/shocks and this also has implications in terms of engine mounts and differentials etc... my car is a daily driver so these things r important. that said, i like to have fun as much as the next person i really like the idea of a switchable kit, thanx john_Ls1. ps, i hope LS1 doesnt mean ur a holden v8 owner!!!!!!

cheers 4 the advice kester. with the difference in price between kit 1 and kit 2, kit 2 would have to b the way to go anyway and kit 3 sounds like it could b more difficult to fit
