Go outside and try work my interior lights on my car? Nah that'd be too hard doing that!

Grow up and stop having a go at some blokes having some fun.

What do you guys think about this?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :IT&ih=005

How much would it cost and how difficult would it be to put lights on this thing?

None of the 2 strokes around seem to have lighting so its a mod I would need to do to get rec reg. :(

It is not that hard to fit up lights, more of a head fu(k really. The main issue is there are generally no charging systems (ie alt) on 2 stroke dirt bikes, which is also required for rec reg (well it was 5 years ago when I last had a bike).

Yeah I have just been googling.

It looks like a lighting stator for that CR250 is $440 USD :(

Im not sure how hard it is to put in though. I dont really want to pull the motor apart as soon as I get it. A few rides first would have been nice.

Hmm it looks easy to put in but its a fair whack of cash on top of the purchase price of the bike.

you can get rec-reg lighting kits pretty cheap, should be under $300 but they are only led lights so they only work enough to pass the rec reg test. so not much good if you want to ride at night.
yeah i work at a yamaha dealer... don't think i could get you a real good price from my work tho  ...don't ask lol. i no a guy who works for suzuki tho so he might be able to point ya in the right direction.

Yep, I found a lighting kit like what your talking about from a joint in geelong for $220. Has LED's and runs off the ignition system. I wont be riding at night anyways.

The bike I wanted got sold :(

Ive made an offer on an older cheaper one so Ill see how it goes.

It starts first go :D

It seems pretty quick so far. My mate had first dibs riding up the street and it was up one wheel into 3rd. It's pretty loud so we called it a night after his turn. :P

My mate who rode it bought a brand new ktm 450 a few months ago and seemed impressed so it must go alright.

Cant wait to get it out to the bush to test it properly. It gave me a headache straight away. :S

Are you taking the piss? It's a two-stroke :?

I've never had an RM, but 2 stroke racers under 300cc are generally an absolute piece of piss to start. Are RM's that much different? I'm confused :(

Nice ride Dan, you'll have fun on that for sure!!! Do you mind telling us where you found the beast, and how much it hurt the wallet?

Videos of me hurting myself will come soon after I buy all the gear and get rec reg.

I nearly mono'd it into Mum when I first tried to ride it in the driveway. :S The clutch is way touchier than my SV and you need a shitload more revs on board first or it stalls.

try loosening the clutch cable then dan. cos it sounds like your clutch lever is too 'tight' (due to the high revs needed to takeoff)

the Suzukis go well despite them having a bad name for a heap of years, they are finally getting a decent reputation now,
my mate had a 07 RMZ 250 for his racing last year, didnt have a problem with it :)

but im a KTM rider... brembos + hydraulic clutch = yay :)

oh Dan, try to beat this bail :P i missed the grab holes and yeh just had to bail out

Holy crap! Did you get injured?

Ill try loosening the cable tonight, it sucks only being able to ride up and down my driveway though.

My next door neighbours have a pit bike that they like to hoon up and down the street on occasion. If I'm quick the neighbours might blame them :D

i cant remember. lol. if i remember right i sort of like hit the ground (on my side) and rolled... helps take away the impact
saying that, about 15minutes later, over cleared the downramp and my legs weren't back on the pegs again (cos of heelclicker) and i nosedived. that ripped off radiator shrouds, helmet visor and gave me a nice bruise on ribs due to handlebars. lol
gotta love bikes :) haha

yeh im pretty confident the cable's tension is the problem. so thats a nice and easy fix :)

haha yeh damn minibikers

and going back to previous page, there's nothing wrong with minibikes/pitbikes, ive got one and i ride it hard ... but saying that, theres a lot of posers that get them just to say they ride. we will call them the M/M kids hahaha

The clutch cable should have a few mm's of freeplay in it.. like 4mm or something, no point loosening it off heaps if it already has freeplay.
a 2 stroke will always need more revs to take off than your roadbike does.

Picked up my new YZ125 tonight :) Took it for a quick blat down the street, seems to go well for a 125, was still on the back wheel in 4th :D Krooz Tune suspension, pro-taper bars etc, seems like a good bike. I think the last rider was a little lighter than me though, so the suspension is a fair whack too soft. Now, I just have to find somewhere to ride it legally haha.

Starting - pull choke al the way up (on). Kick, and as you kick, roll the throttle on 1/4 turn, in the same motion as kicking it. it should start first to third kick or you're not quite getting it right.

Once started - switch choke to half for about 15 seconds

Then - turn off the choke, jump straight on once the idle has lowered itself down a little, take it up the street/track and slowly roll the throttle on a few times till it starts to "crispen up" and allows you to reach the powerband. Don't thrash the **** out of it for about 2-3 minutes just give it moderate load until there's reasonable temperature in the expansion chamber, then after that give it a hiding.

It will idle fine once it's warmed up. The racers don't like to sit and idle for any period of time straight from start up (it's not quite a commuter LOL).

Ive got starting it down to 2 kicks now so Im getting better at that. Ill have to wait til after I get rec reg to try riding it and getting it to idle though. I cant do it in my area, the cops would get called for sure.

Are you going to rec reg yours?

I'm a bit concerned about the fuel and oil mixture in mine. Everywhere I look says to run between 32 and 40:1 but the previous owner was running 20:1. Not sure if this is a problem or not. It still has that fuel in it and Im hoping that is the reason it is smoking so bad.

Im going to run 32:1 next to see if it makes a difference. Its pretty goddamn smokey as it is. My clothes all stink like 2 stroke fumes already. :(

the avg mix is 32:1

but you get the best response out of 40:1 (so 250mL of oil to 10L of fuel)

Ah cool. Ill give it a go.

Above I said it was running 20:1 but its actually 25:1. Hopefully the new mixtures will cut down on the smoke.

What do you guys think about getting something like this to tow the bike around with? Is it going to be durable?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0228222520

My mates have just built a 3 bike trailer but I think I'd rather have my own way of getting the bike around. Plus their trailer is fckn heavy and I dont really want to get stuck towing it :P

Our Husky's used to run at around 40:1, and the first 40L through them we ran avgas ;) . Also, always put the best premium you can get into it, you'll notice the difference. Our old enduro bikes wouldn't even run on 91 octane at all, they simply refused to even start.

20:1 is bordering ridiculously rich, I wouldn't ever put anything richer than 30:1, it'll run like a dog.

Took mine for another spin, it's still got fuel in the tank from the last owner and I think it's running rich as hell too. And the rear suspension is woefully soft, he's got the spring preload backed off all the way (static sag of around 3"), the forks are set up mint though. Did you get the tool with your's dan (spring seat twirler thing)? I haven't got one anymore :(

That, or on private property only are the only two places you really CAN ride them.

Must have no lights (or tape them, depends on club), no stands, bar ends, well maintained bike, and there's a dB limit too but I forget what it is, it used to be 102dB i think. I forget the other scrutineering items though. You'll also need a race licence (club or state or national level) and you'll have to join the club for a day (usually 30 bucks) or for a whole year (around 100?).
Once you join up, and have a licence (just a fee), you can then race as well as practice there . Some clubs let you go there anytime between dawn and dusk on any day of the week without an event on (we were given our own key). I haven't looked into it here, but I doubt it's quite so lax in the city as far as the hours you can go there are concerned.

Sorry, that's not worded very well but yeah.

Looks like a nice track :) No really scary 80' jumps or savage huge ass table-tops or anything, haha means I might be able to have a crack.

So did you find a good place to ride yet Dan? I've been caning mine through the backstreets, good fun but no big jumps and stuff.

I started fixing mine up on the weekend, fixed the susp, gearbox, clutch, expansion chamber etc, just got front wheel-bearings to go then I want to go out and give it a hiding for a few hours and see what breaks. Seems NDMX is only open some saturdays which is fuckin shit, I wanna go riding every night

Which light set did you get? Some cheap shitty LED job? I'm contemplating it, looks like rec rego is cheap as after the lights are done.
