Yes I'm not surprised about that. Apparently there is going to be episodes released on XBOX Live and possibly for the PS3 too.

wikipedia wrote:Downloadable content

Xbox 360

During Microsoft's 2006 E3 press conference on 9 May 2006, it was announced that Rockstar Games will offer exclusive episodic content via Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 version of the game. Peter Moore, the then head of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division announced that Rockstar Games is working on two GTA IV downloadable packs exclusively for the Xbox 360, which will be released after the full game.

Moore described downloadable content as "epic episode packs", and not just extra cars or characters. A press release during the conference said that the packs would add "hours of entirely new gameplay" to the game. The official Xbox website states that these episodes will last a minimum of 10 hours.

Jeronimo Barrera, Vice President of Product Development for Rockstar Games, has said that the episodes are an experiment because they are not sure that there are enough users with access to online content on the Xbox 360. Details on the pricing of these downloads have not yet been revealed, though it would almost certainly not be released for free, as Take-Two Interactive's former CEO, Paul Eibeler, has said numerous times that these downloads would provide "additional revenue streams" to the company[citation needed], but Microsoft has said that it will be up to Rockstar on whether or not they will charge for it. Take-Two Interactive's Chief Financial Officer, Lainie Goldstein revealed that Microsoft was paying a total of US $50 million for the two episodes. On 20 February 2008, it was announced that the extra content will be introduced starting August 2008.

PlayStation 3

Downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 was reportedly said to be "likely" by Jeronimo Barrera, in the May edition of PlayStation World Magazine. The form that the content will take was not stated.

On another note has anyone tried the multiplayer yet?

Im loving this game - Lots of attention to details - Although you can't shoot out traffic lights - and when you shoot our tyres with your gun - it still pops if you only shoot the rim

I had a mad big glitch playing pool with the girlfriend tho - everything went all weird and spastic

I am really loving it right now. I like that if you just randomly shoot and there are cops in ear shot, you get a wanted level.
The wanted system is fantastic. Haven't been able to outrun 3 stars (yet!) but have had a couple of great shoot outs with the cops. The cover system works really really well.
Everytime I look at the map though, it seems so small. But when you are driving around it is plenty big, and I am still stuck on the first island! Can't wait to get across to Manhattan island.
The weather is great too - when it rains, the cars start to aquaplane when you brake and try to power on in corners to early.

My special edition turned up yesterday. Pretty cool, but also a bit meh. Dunno know wether it was worth the extra $55 it cost me. I'll hold onto it as is for a while, it may fetch silly money on ebay. Otherwise it can go with the collection of other special edition games.

If you have 3 stars don't bother shooting police if you want to get away, you have a helicopter on your ass so just concentrate on driving. I found it easiest to escape near Francis International Airport, just ditched the car just outside the main carpark near a billboard and ran to the centre, for some reason the cops would drive around it and not see me.

Is that the one with the barricades and a shitload of cops? I tried it on a bike but crashed into one of the barricades on the other side flat out killing myself.

So far its easily the best GTA game ever, possibly the best game ever, period.

If you remember the opening dialogue with Roman he mentions that the bridges are closed because of a terrorist threat. LOL... Which explains why you get a 6 star wanted level when you try and cross them. It sounds like fun, I'll have to try it.

The very first time that you drive the car from the dock to Roman's apartment I turned a corner and slammed right into the back of a parked police car. I heard someone out of frame call out "Hey!" but I had started to drive off already. Other than that I haven't been in trouble with the law yet.

yeah ive been in multiplayer, like the free mode with a couple of people, its rather funny when you all start shooting cops then trying to get away in their cars/or the SWAT van. it does lag a bit occasionally.. but thats to be expected on a large scale map. havent tried any of the other multiplayer because i want to do more of the story, its like an addiction. yesterday i managed to get through 22.88% of the game after spending 10 and a half hours playing it

Have any of you PS3 guys got Dualshock controllers yet? The vibrate goes nuts when you are in the house with Michelle. Funny as.

My CC has been charged by play-asia, so hopefully will have the US version early next week, and will be able to see what is censored, if anything. So far I am loving it, I pulled off an execution last night and blood went everywhere - on Niko's clothes as well, it was great. :D So it's safe to say that blood and guts haven't been cut.

I tried doing a burnout and nothing happened, car just sat there. Must have been a crap car, obviously. Will try again tonight. :)

How much time has everyone clocked up on it now?

Ive clocked 15 hours, longest game time 8 hours. Done 40 missions. Basically halfway done. I will probably finish it on Saturday or Sunday and free roam doing side missions for at least another 50 plus hours.

I usually get good value out of GTA games, I played 3 and Vice City for a good 50 hours, same with VCS. SA I think i clocked over 100 hours on my first save before it died, then another 70 on my second save. IV has already proved itself to be the shot in the arm the series needed, it really is as good, if not better, as 3 was back in the day.

Haha, game just got awesome. My housemate just pushed an innocent bystander in front of a moving train accidentally, and hilarity ensued. Much laughing.
