Welcome mate!

You're 'useless' from AFF, yeah?

How is the wagon going? Last I checked you were running low 14s.

Yes welcome Stav. Your car is pretty impressive for an auto AU wagon. I remember you having quite a bit to do with OED666 on AFF.

Good to see you here too Tim. Yer I just read OED'S adventures and the trouble hes had lately is uncanny. OED doesnt wear a koo klux clan hat when he drives does he? The coppers have given him alot of grief.

The wagon I bought around 5 years ago after being smashed by two semi trailers in my eb. It was a depressing old the my au. I met alot of people from the forums and chucked some JimMock extractors with a xorst. It went faster.I couldnt believe that mods actually worked! Then I want t more.Went to dev 4 cam only .Got 2500stallie 3.73 diff 3 inch intake and edit tune.Got 14.737 1/4 mile.

From there I got really sick ..had heart problems and got bored at home recovering.So.. I bought books on head porting got a head sent home and started porting from scratch by the book. Took 12 months. I chatted to oed and thought that his cam recommendation sounded about right. Finished the head ,got the cam in and to the dyno.Previous power was 141 rwkws and with the hed/cam it got to 170.1 rwkws on the same dyno. The edit tune was giving me grief.I ended up installing haltech interceptor and tuned away myself. Car wqs misfiring befiore this..Went to the track agaibn last winter and managed back to back 14.5's. It came to summer this year when a young customer of mine openly challenged me to race his au xr6 ute at wsid on the forums. . We rocked up and raced. he ran a 16.8 and the wagon pulled 14.5 straight off the bat. We then waited for a little temperature drop and went back. The wagon ran 14.301 at 97 mph.!! doh!! The it ran another 2 14.3's before the night came to an end. It was hot hot hot.

I suppose my other highlight was getting the best reaction time prize at wsid last year.My reaction time was 0.0000 . What was better was that they pasted my cars photo on the front page of wsid for 2 weeks. It was good for business.
Here is link..

http://www.wsid.com.au/press.asp?Id=658 ... &Year=2007
Thats about it I think..

Welcome Stav, long time no see. Good to hear you're getting some results with the wagon too!

We rocked up and raced. he ran a 16.8 and the wagon pulled 14.5 straight off the bat.

They just dont seem to last those gearboxes...I wonder why :)

I said some time ago that I wanted to get a 13 second timeslip. I suppose you can only do your best. The wagon is heavy at 1720 kgs weighed.. Maybe this season it will do the do with some luck. The current box was redone last December. It has kevlar bands and super clutches.Still it too is seeing some issues. In ll honesty Ive been babying this one too.Gearboxes are expensive..

I don't think it's a power problem. Plenty of XR6T's with over 350rwkw use BTR's and they don't break. They weigh over 1700kg empty as well. How big is the oil cooler for it? Does it flow enough for the BTR?

I've got limited AFF access, so this might have all been covered already...

Cooler is almost as big as the radiator.I have also installed a trans temp gauge. It never runs hot. I think I have dealt with shonks once again but well find out soon if they do the right thing while its under warranty

Medium to wide open throttle is fine.Sometimes intermittentantly at light throttle on freeway easy cruising the box seems to drop to 2nd gear and the car jolts for a second and then keeps driving on..wierd problem. However after all this time Ive learnt to have things break so..its one more piece hehe

The forum is going good. The wagon is good fun to drive.
Yesterday I got to drive a customers stock ba xr8. I can honestly say that... if the wagon is not faster then it definately feels a alot quicker than the xr8.. It was depressing to drive the xr8. Made me realise how well the wagon is going. It takes such a long time to find the right combo and you get used to the power. It made me appreciate it even more..

Sounds like the inhibitor switch? Are you familiar with these? They're a small-ish white plastic component hanging off the passenger side of the box, they have two plugs sticking out 120 degrees apart. It acts as the inhibitor to stop the car starting in R or D (3, 2, 1), and also dictates gearchanges. When it's on its way out it does random things like 4th to 2nd at 100kph :P

It's a 10 minute job to replace, the part costs $120ish. Just be careful when putting the replacement inhibitor switch on, it you push the metal dowel in which it surrounds, you're stuffed :P (so don't force it on, it should slip on with some firm guidance).

Yep, my seat needed a steam-clean when it happened at 100kph on the Strzelecki highway (mountains) on a wet night. Shift kit + 4.11s kicking back to 2nd almost compression-locked lol

That sounds like my cars problem exactly. At 100 kmph it feels liike it goes not to 3rd but 2nd..
The other thing i noticed is it once it happened for a second it drove normally but when I tried to manually put it into 3rd 2 nd even 1st at 100kmph it felt like it didnt change at all. After a few minutes it seemed to go back to normal and yep engaged 3rd no worries..

Another test: put in 1st, flog it out & see how far you get in 1st. If it changes to 2nd, that's another sign that it's the inhibitor. But your 4th --> 2nd symptom sounds convincing enough to me.

lol @ 1st @ 100kph

Certainly is getting there mate.Casper is in a class of his own. A stock engined car with the right driveline mods and boltons..14.5 is dam good time for his efforts.
Mine is pretty different in that respect.Headwork, cams etc etc. Its not too bad at all though ..heheh ;)

Commando..I think you are right..the prob is still there even after fluid top up. I rang the workshop and they told me it sounds like...the inhibitor switch. They said it is not covered by the box warranty.Sounds like they are having a lend of me?
Anyway Im going to price a new inhibitor swotch and see if that fixes it.Hope I dont stuff it...

$50-$120 depending on which wrecker or seller you buy it from ;)

Dunno the price of one new sorry.

I'd consider it a warranty job... it's part of the box!!!
