Drove a FG G6 :D

Postby Sunboost » May 23rd, 2008, 3:05 pm

So excitement had to post.. I got pics I'll put 'em up later.

Frashed it from Mitcham to City. It was press car 11, XFG061.. Just for work to "Get a feel of the car"

Steering is pretty nice, not all shuddery and clunky feeling, the motor feels smoother and there's definitely a lot less noise. Probably something to do with the manifold. The 5 speed is good but seemed a bit confused in the car I drove.

If I was getting a non-turbo car I'd still go a BA-BF, if I could afford a turbo car I'd go a FG for shiz - but since I can't the BA-BF is still mint value. Less fashion and more frashin..

I'll chuck some pics I got on my phone up later. But y'all know what they look like.

Whats the steering wheel/console/seating position like? I've read a few complaints in magazines. Is 1st gear noticably shorter than a BTR?

I think work needs you to 'get a feel' for a G6ET ASAP :D

skid pics of a G6ET with a boostedfalcon.net sticker on the car FTW!

I know that at mitsubishi the dealer principals etc get to drive the vehicles before the official release date to create more "product knowledge" .

I assume the ford use the same sort of thing

They definitely look much better in the flesh. The local Ford dealerships in Gippsland have a couple slipped into the BF lineup. They're definitely NOT photogenic for some weird reason, the back end/doorlines look much better in real life

The FG are great cars to drive they definatly go well and pull up good... i wouldn't like to get one sidways they seam a bit like boat.

Andrew from etheridge ford brought a xr6 down to a ORSM club meeting for us to have a look and a spirited drive :D . Stomp it and it deffinatly spins off the line i can't wait to have a drive of a turbo one though. The trans was a 5speed one and again it was a bit undecided on what gear to choose but very smooth and im used to driving a manual so im very impacient with auto's. The inside is very silent and smooth.
but they definatly need bigger wheels badly the body is rather big.

I want to sit in a G6ET damn it, I would settle for an XR6T though... it's more in the league of what I'm willing to spend.

A manual G6ET would be absolute sex on a stick... Damn it Ford wake up, get your heads out of the 90's, what would it hurt to offer the manual option on luxury models?

Not the first European styled Falcon though, that's for sure. The XD looked like a complete copy of the European Ford Granada, and even the EA has a lot of Sierra in the design. Personally I reckon they look great

lol @ Australia having their own style.

Since the 70's Falcons/Commodores have been copies of European cars. The EA is about as European as they come, just wack some oversized grey bumpers/sidemoulds on it and 15 years later people call it Australian.

And for those with memory loss, last time Ford Australia tried to design something unique, we got the AU Falcon which nearly killed Ford Australia, and boosted Holden's car sales through the roof.

At the end of the day though, who cares? It's just another falcon, another step. Not some mad revolution of the car industry

the au was based on the tuarus which were ugly as ****,

i've been in a xr8 and a xr6t both go really well and sound awesome, but i'd get the xr6t because it pulls so much harder
