Oh yeah, another shit buy..

EF XR front end for $1200. It was advertised for $1000, go figure. Was pretty battered and required fukloads of work to get it healthy looking before primer (deep gouging in bottom of bar, crows feet from clear coat to metal). The indicators for both sides were cracked, headlights had slight overspray.

I bought it then OD'ed.

But I guess those front ends are rare and I woulda charged the same..

My best buy would be the EA or EF XR that I wrecked. EA came with a 80thou K AU motor, reasonably tight 3.45LSD and EBII 5spd manual setup with extractors and zorst. I paid $900 about 18mths ago. 2nd was the EF XR6 that I seriously crunched Niko for (although I still reckon he paid less)... It was minus the front end but with a recent reco'd complete driveline. $1200 with everything else in VGC. Sold about $1500 worth off that car and transplanted the whole driveline into my EL(Diff, tailshaft, gearbox + motor).

Worst buy would probably be my first EB. I paid $2800 for a column shift bench seat EBII with 280,000kms on the clock . Ran pretty good and copt a massive canning but coulda gotten alot better... Or the $3500 I spent on my system in the EL only to sell it 2mths later....

Best: $20 AU Tickford snorkel trimmed for E-series, used for a few months then ebayed for a little more than $150!

Worst: EA Ghia purchased for $400 for a few donor parts and wrecking. Did a half assed strip, and CBF touching an EA so sent the rest to a wrecker - still made $50 though.

Best and Worst: datamine's off fordmods EL - it was a clapped rough, rippled, filthy piece of shit. Caught a bus to canberra for that terd, and CBF bussing it back, so bought it to drive home. I thrashed it for 4 months as punishment while the rego ran out, then stripped it. Made quite a bit off it though.

I thought that the datamine EL was a good buy? Didn't it have completely reco'd driveline and a heap of other goodies on it??

Yes and no. At the end of the day, it was a good buy due to some of the goodies and the driveline, but it was a complete heap of shit. Had butchered wiring everywhere in the engine bay, dash and boot, body wasn't crash hot, interior was pretty filthy etc. It did have some good points, engine & driveline wise it was pretty good and went hard for an auto 6. I think it was the EL GT wing that made me want to kill it though.

It has been reincarnated though. A forum member bought it off me as a rolling shell with all panels. I stripped all lights, mirrors etc. Engine bay was completely bare. Interior was bare other than dash shell, and that's about it.

They bought it, transferred in EF Ghia driveline, interior & electrics, and I believe they've now resprayed it. Should be looking much better now!

my eb ghia was the worst and best buy

when i first got it ran terrible, slow very tempromental, head gasket leaking..

now that i have invested time and effort and a bit of cash into it its a beast.

My best buy would have to be the Sprint, one owner all original and a good price.

My worst buy would have had to have been bothering to try and fix the oil leaks, coolant leaks and other crap that was wrong with the motor instead of pulling the thing out and building a new one initially and saving a eff load of cash.

And building up the cast iron heads, they were awsome heads which performed well but i should have just got alloys to begin with for the price.

best buys:
1) my KAAZ diff, cost a fuckin fortune but I love it
2) prob my bunky EA I bought as my daily whilst the turbo was being built.... It was a fairmont ghia, full electrics, had a shit load of kms and looked crap but i was perfectly reliable.... After raping it for over a year, with no servicing sold it for $950.... good cheap motoring.....
3) EF chrome interior handles- brought a bit of class to my Gli interior

worst buys:
prob my EL XR lights.... paid close to $600 cos they were the only ones I could find.....
got a reco auto box over here..... paid way too much for it cos I didnt know any better....

Does she need a resleeve?

I had a good buy that is not E series related. Turbo AU XR6 for $15k with all intents to get it engineered and keep it forever. The owner had to go overseas in the next few days so I bargained hard. I couldnt get it engineered for a reasonable amount of money and effort and couldnt insure it being 21 so I put it up on ebay at $26500 and sold it for $25k.

Unfortunately this car turned to shit after I sold it with the engine throwing a rod and the trans self-destructing and the hassles it caused afterwards made me hate owning it in the first place.

Worst E-series buy = PYROAY ...don't get me started on all of the reasons. Never regretted selling her.

Best E-series buy = my current pride and joy Red EL XR6. Never given me any real problems, totally immaculate, drives beautiful ...and still so much potential.
Hot Chilli Red EL XR6, 5-spd manual, with BF F6 TYPHOON motor and supporting mod's, 3" exhaust etc etc.

I went for a drive in pyroay when aaron had it and damn it was certainly quick. I dunno he installed my whole sound system for me virtually free of charge and did everything perfect. He seems like the perfectionist sort but I did hear about the problems with that car.

Your missus has already run off etc. etc, sort that out later - explain Pyroay now. It's more important to explain these things in detail to forum members than sort out your personal life.

Best would be buying the ED Futura for $1,000 in 2001.

Worst would have to be making the decision of buying a EF XR6 over a brand new BA XR6 back in 2003. FML

I'll explain later.

Just noticed this....330rwkw on 19.5psi? That's shithouse! My ED made ~295rwkw with stock head, stock cam, stock valves and stock ED intake manifold, on 15psi!

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

Worst buy: Replacement EB/ED 4L for my old EB, ended up paying something like $1000 Fitted!!! Was originally quoted a lot less than that for supply & fit by wrecker, and told would take 2 days. After 2 days it was nowhere near finished, and when I was talking to the bloke he said something along the lines of "F**k it still went hard even though the old motor was f**ked!" This was my first sign of their dodgyness, then when I picked up the car they charged me for a lot of things that they had previously said the motor didn't need (like new welsh plugs, rear main etc.)!
Unfortunately since all the shit was already installed in the car, and I was living in on my own with a workmate going out of his way to pick me up/drop me off every day while I didn't have a car, I just paid it and hoped for the best. Needless to say the motor was a piece of shit and the reason I ended up getting rid of the car 18 months later.

Best buy: LPG Conversion for my current EL, the only purchase I've ever made which made my pockets heaver! Saved me heaps of $$$
