The EB/DC Fairmont LTDGhia Wagon

Postby Schmee » June 16th, 2008, 8:19 pm

Well after some thought and a bit of luck Ive purchased another car....

EB Fairmont Ghia Wagon, nothing to special but its clean in one peice and not in bad shape

I decided that the Wife's car, the ol EB sedan just isnt required anymore as I really need to get another car I can use for work and lugging stuff around rather than using the trailer all the time so the wagon was bought earlier today, this way she can have my EF Fairmont Ghia and we still have 2 cars to lug the kids around in

Anyways basic plan for this is to drop the EL Tickford 4 litre into it, adding a BBM and thermo fans while Im there, and give it the general once over and get it ready for rego in mid to late August. I will be putting together a build thread with the engine swap, extra wiring etc with lots of pics and so on

also going to be doing the majority of the LPG install once registered with the EL Tickford setup utilising an EL dual fuel ECU

so heres some pics

Kev

was a true bargain....lol

It will get the usual mods dump it a bit harder put a Kev's exhaust system on it and maybe the 16" FTR's I have sitting here...

it does need paint on the bonnet as the clear is peeling and the tailgate has some damage...but it came with a spare in silver so maybe when I get around to it it will be done, might even just give it the rub and blow treatment dunno yet

Yeah maybe the Muzza spec Towing company sticker aswell....lol...we'll see

Still havent done the shed yet....thats the shed I pulled the wagon from over the other side of the city....

I know its missing a few cylinders but it was cheap cheap....

Nothing this old is ever to nice to be a workhorse I dont belt the crap out of my cars like that anyways really just need a reliable ride with all the creature comforts to lug some gear around in and I hate towing the trailer everywhere too hard to park, this will do for a while I think Im kind of over changing cars all the time and I dont want a ute/van again so the wagon will be ideal....unless a dual cab chev comes along for the right price this will be just great

Nice score mate, looks pretty clean.

Lose the pinstriping, visors etc, add clear corner indicators, side indicators, EL taillights, turboblades and dumpage - will make it perfect to me!

previous owner had it for 12 years decided to update and wanted it to go to a good home, clear indicators an EL tail lights are on the shopping list dunno bout wheels yet as it needs tyres who knows what will come up

all the windows all work really good, climate tests OK, trip comp seems to work and of course the only seat to be a bit average is the drivers so it will prolly get sent of to the trimmers to fix it up

all in all very happy with the purchase hopefully motor will be out by the end of the week and then start fitting the EL one I have in the shed

We'll I havent been as busy as I want to be but Ive done a few things to the wagon today, fitted up a color coded numberplate surround/garnish on the tailgate, cleaned some of the crap out of the back of it, fitted up the cargo barrier and put a set of 16" FTR's on it

also removed the bonnet protector and the grille badge, I will de-badge the rest of the car aswell soon and get clear indicators, repeaters and maybe EL rears for it

gotta say Im very happy with the way it looks now, although I will probably lower the rear more once its registered

also very happy after jacking the rear up realised it has a LSD under the back and all the brakes were redone recently all in looks good underneath it

here's some pics
