Hay, I use Just Car third party. Havent had to file a claim but they've taken down the small number of modifications I've got/going to get done with no problems. At $350/year, it's fairly cheap too
They shall plant vineyards and drink the wine of them. And they shall build their lay cities and live in them
And they shall also make gardens and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, which I have given them
And the mountains shall drop sweet wine and the hills shall melt.

Read the fine print VERY CAREFULLY.

If you have a modified car with mods considered illegal and/or unroadworthy, they won't cover in in the event of an accident. Even if they say "here is a quote from us :)" after you've filled out their basic online quote form.

I got a quote from Just Car, $190/yr for a supercharged V8. Yes, one hundred and ninety dollars. However, the fine print said that if the car had any illegal/unroadworthy modifications, the insurance contract would be void (despite me checking all the mod boxes).

Shannons quoted me $550/yr, and their policy states that they WILL cover a car with unroadworthy/illegal modifications, AS LONG AS the unroadworthy/illegal modification did not cause or significantly contribute to the claim.

To borrow an example from a similar thread on fordmods:

* Your car has wheel spacers, and a wheel shears off while you're turning a corner & you plough into a BMW. BUP BOW, not covered.
* Your car has a backyard turbo setup, but you crash due to ignoring a red light. The turbo setup wasn't the cause here, it was driver error, so you're covered in this case.

They're more than happy to insure the EB, and that was with me being 110% honest about what's done to it/being done to it, no exceptions :D

I am with Just Car and have no hassles with them. I pay $480 for the EB and $1100 for the LTD coz its a V8 and I am under 25 but for Full Rating 1 its pretty damn cheap and I have not had to make a claim as yet but i am happy with them

I'm with JustCar for both of mine.
Shannons won't touch anyone with under 5 years driving experience, I've tried 3 times to insure the sprint with them, they only told me that the last time I rang
Previous 2 excuses were car was on banned list for P-Platers, and 2nd was telling me I was a dreamer for wanting an agreed value of more then 7k.
Arsehole straight up lied to me on the phone, reckoned some bloke he knew couldn't sell his immaculate red Sprint for 6k.

By comparison, everytime I ring JustCar I get a nice sounding chick.
Last one was AAAA++++ helpful and flirty, highly recommended.

Paying about 1800 for both cars (each), from memory :?:
Sprint insured for 12k
F6 for 50k
22 years old, rating 2.

Never made a claim though.

I'm with Adz this, I always get better value when I ring them up, compared to what the internet quote says.

Aristo will be expensive I bet...

Well i went throught the internet quote with Just Car n i got an email not long after i finished it saying i dont qualify for insurance because the "damage" on my car is outside their guidelines and uninsurable or something.

bit of explanation....i have 2 dents on my car.....
both dents small...both due to carelessness...not on my part. One was from my brother leaving tools sitting in the engine bay and my bonnet doesnt stay up of its own accord and unfortunately came crashing down leaving a dent facing outwards...and the other being my dad reversing into my car with his truck...small scratches on left side mirror with a small dent just in front.......obviously travelling very slowly...

any got any ideas how this is so uninsurable?

I've got Shannons full comp on both my cars, and I was 20 when I signed up with them. Even got $8,000 agreed value on the NF, which is shitloads more than its worth.

Its costing me $215 a month for both cars with full comp. I suppose it depends on who you get when you call them...

In saying that, I'm not really in a position where I can afford full comp anymore, so I'm going to AAMI for 3rd party on both cars for $90 a month.

And yeah, I considered doing an insurance job on the NF lol :P

Yeah i did...it asked i told....but even then i dont see how 2 small dents can make in uninsurable....its not as though its missing panels or been bashed to bits....its been taken good care of and is in damn good condition...

Yeah but the little box you ticked doesn't know that
You'll have to ring them.
Online quotes are great for cars that a fairly standard.
They don't work so well for anything 'different'.

Jared, you have had more than 5 years driving experience! LOL
They'll accept that you were driving from the time your were 16.
I'm with Shannons, but they pissed me off last renewal.

I only had the XR valued at 20k, they then dropped it to 17.5k. I told them to get fucked cause i had an agreed value and didn't want it to change for a few years. Then they go, but we dropped ur monthly premium by like $10. I went up another rating, and they drop the value of the car, then save me $120 a year on a about an $1800 policy.

I'm kinda getting over them...

JustCar are covered by AAMI aren't they? Does that mean they're a total fuckaround when it comes to making a claim, and if you need to have panel work done, you have to shop around for somewhere that will actually accept work from AAMI?

Perhaps we need to add to the T&C that there may be swearing on this forum and people under 15 should seek parental advisory?

not neccesarily.
a lot of Just cars recommended repairers are going to be panel shops which can do repairs on imports which may require parts coming in from OS.
As aami dont do imports (or rarely do) they may not neccesarily be the same repairers.

Re: ANY ONE HERE WITH "JUST CAR INSURANCE "

Postby EL XR8 » June 17th, 2008, 9:01 pm

The only tihng i found with Just Cars was they wouldn''t insure my car for anywhere near what i wanted to insure it for.
No if's, buts or maybe's.
Plus they made my excess to over 3k
$450 normal excess
$400 over 21 but under 25 age excess
$400 modified car exces
$400 Stereo excess
$600 Wheel excess
and then get this.. a $400 excess cause there were a lot of claims on XR8's at the time.

So i told them to get fucked very quickly

not neccesarily.
a lot of Just cars recommended repairers are going to be panel shops which can do repairs on imports which may require parts coming in from OS.
As aami dont do imports (or rarely do) they may not neccesarily be the same repairers.

The problem is AAMI will try to get out of paying you out, or try to pay you the smallest amount possible. They often take over 3 months to pay their bills to crash repairers, so most panel shops won't touch their work. AAMI usually allow choice of repairers too, but yeah, as I said, you're pretty much limited to the big panel shops with low overheads.

With JustCars being underwritten by them, I wonder if the same problems occur.

AAMI are shit.

Our work Navaras were insured through them, when I become the 90% driver on the Navara being at 22 insurance when from $600 Full comp to $1300, WFI (who I use for my EF and Public Liability and Home Contents) are underwritten by themselfs Westfarmers Corp (who own coles or someshit) WFI is $600. And We get a massive discount now like 30% now, cause have like 8 insurance policy's with them.

As for AAMI repairs, if you dont use an approved repairer (as with most insurance companies) they send you a cheque and wont certify the work.

But as for Justcars same issue as AAMI peeps. Unless someone can correct me on this AAMI send out there own assessors who talk panel beaters down on price to fix. And RACV, GIO, CGU, Alliance and other various company's use RACV assessors or a subsidery. My Bro inlaws dad is an RACV assessor and he assessed my XR6 when it was totalled
