How it all goes to plans for ya.

I'm sure your skids will not be during the cruise.

Real rwc's take time and effort if the car has no rego.

Its a pita if you work far from home and have to do it. I have to take a day off to drop off the car and pick it up from the rwc place. Do it again once some things are fixed, then take another day off to make the vicroads appointment.

A dodgy roadworthy is better than 3 days off work imo.

Fake rwc and rego transfer ftw.

Its getting rare these days to find places that will do dodgy RWC's, unless a close mate or family member has a RWC licence.

Heard of heaps places getting caught out and their licences revoked lately :? Doesnt help when Booze buses seem to be doubling as defect stations with sound testing equipment etc

if you can get a back yard rw can you use it to clear a defect or do you need to take the car to vic roads?

pretty much so

if it says yeah take the car to vic roads they normally come out and have a look at the car

is it a major or minor defect?

all defects have to be taken to vicroads. Major or Minor. Difference is the following

Minor, you need to fix the item that is wrong, eg bald tyres, take it to vicroads some person will make sure your tyres are new and have a quick look around and yeah leave it at that.

Major you need a road worthy, then visit vic roads, they mark it on the system after looking at the roadworthy and jobs done.

On a side note vicroads are doing auditing atm, so they may go out and check the car, but my mate got his car vic rwc the other day, and registered 3 days later 2 vicroads inspectors from Melbourne came and visited him and checked over the car for themselfs to make sure the RWC places are doing there jobs properly

Re: Road worthy!

Postby Frost » September 2nd, 2008, 7:01 pm

Ok ill explain this to you in simple forms

Its Illegal to sell a car in the state of vic that has a current defect imposed on it, or epa notice
Its Illegal to sell a car in the state of vic that has current registration and not supply a road worthy certificate
It is not illegal for the seller to cancel the rego of the car, then make you re register it and supply a roadworthy.

To Transfer a car in victoria you need to supply a transfer form and rwc (which if the car was un registered the buyer supplys it, if registered the sell supplys it).
If it was unregistered it would be a "new registraion"
If its registered its a trasnfer of registration.

To complete a new registraion you need to present you car at vicroads

My advice to you is dont try and transfer and clear the defect on the same day.

And if theres any problems with the transfer form they will request to see your car.

So you have brought a registered vehicle without a RWC? its the sellers issue by law he HAS to supply one else hes not allowed to dispose of the car to you

You have 2-3 days to run into vicroads to transfer the car into your name

cause it takes 3 days for things to replicate across to from vicpol to vicroads.

Then give it a day then go get the defect cleared at a different vicroads

Cause I can forsee the following.

The registered owner of the car has to present it in order for hte defect to be cleared
So you wont be able to clear it unless its in your name

Then to transfer thats fine you just do the form and certificate

They only thing is each certificate has a number on it, and I rekon they dont allow the same cert to be used twice and does the cert have a date before or after the defect?

what ill do is get a rw and get a new windscreen listed. go to vic roads and give it to them then like a week later ill go and do the transfer.

or ill just make the pos rw for a week. all it needs is a pipe springs a globe or 2 and mabey a wheel alinment.

the defct is for a broken suspenion part (diff houseing) due to my mate sping out in oil and hiting a guter :( not really his falt i was there so its not like he lieing to me or any thing. just speed up to be a light went round the coner into what looked like a hole bunch of atm fluid :( and bunced the back wheel of a guter. witch broke the houseing and while we where wating for a tralier a cop showed up :(
Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?
