Hi guys, glad you like the engine bay photos, its taken some time to get to that stage..
Without going through the whole story in detail, I bought an EF in early 2005 with 270,000ks on it. 2 months later I got in contact with Geoff from Snort Performance about a turbo kit, a few week later we had a stage one setup install on it.. I had a local exhaust place to make/fit the intercooler piping and 3 inch exhaust. Apart from the intercooler piping only been 2 1/2 inches instead of the 3inch I payed for, the exhaust guy also left a whole load of welding slag in the piping. Needless to say about 2 minutes from driving out of his door it found it way into the engine. I called Geoff thinking it was a turbo issue, he dropped around and we removed the intercooler piping and found a handful of loss slag still in it. Geoff offered to pull the head off and get it sorted, even though it had nothing to do with him. A few new valves, gaskets and head bolts later it was back together. And Geoff payed for the whole lot...
Initially it was dynoed at 190rwkw at 9psi, but as soon as it heated up there was some noticeable detonation. Not been able to adjust the EF's timing, I through in a Wolf 3d V4. After about 6 months of stuffing around (two dodgy tuners), and wolf having my car for a few weeks to develop a trigger filter box it was running and tuned by rank rotary in Melbourne. 320cc injectors we also put in as was a malpassi 2-1 Reg. Power was up to 220rwkw at 14psi
9 months and about 20,000k's later I wanted more power. Given the engine was about 300,000ks old, I pulled it out and rebuilt it, along with some head work, contacted Geoff again, and as always he helped me out with some bigger and better turbo gear. It was put all together and a quick easy tune for the run in period resulted in 266rwkw at 10psi. This lasted for about 1 year when I figured the next upgrade was due.

This was only going to be a small update with a new cam and a full tune now it was run in, but turned into a little more.
I Pulled the head off and CC all combustion chambers, and did a little more porting work. In went a custom turbo cam from Paul at CVE in Melbourne, 660CC injectors, MSD coils, MSD DIS4 ignition, Rebuilt Auto and 2500rpm stallie. We fabricated a custom plenum 80mm throttle body, and once again Geoff helped out on the turbo side with his lasted manifold design and a custom GT35/45-T04Z turbo combo.
I put the whole lot together then because of work commitment and the introduction of a work car I had to put the car in the shed for 12 months.

Finally got back into it a few months ago, and put a Lokka lock right diff centre in just before booking into get it tuned.
Picked it up from the diff place and got pulled up by the cops on the way home, ended up with a defect for and inoperable horn and been too low.
The car was registered in Vic but I've always planed to transfer it to NSW to get a full engineers certificate done so it completely legal, Given I had to get a road worthy anyway I've decided to move the engineering side forward, so the turbo is off at the moment for a quick rego in NSW, then off to be tuned and booked in for an emission test and engineering to be full legal.
Its not been tuned yet, but the current combo running at 9psi felt alot stronger then the old setup, so I'm hoping for good things when its back together.
The plan was to give the car to my wife to drive, but with the cam and power it will be making I think it might be a little to cranky for her. So at the moment I’m looking at getting it finished, do a couple of drag meets to see what it will run, and sell it to start on the next project..
Sorry for the long winded post, but trust me this is the very short version.
I have some updated photos somewhere, with all the intake piping and head shielding on.. I'll see if I can find them..
For anyone else looking turboing their falcon I really have to recommend talking to Geoff from Snort Performance, I really cannot fault any of the equipment I bought through him, his after sales service(often over and above issues that weren’t caused by him to start with), and knowledge and developments he has put in to the falcons is second to none..
I’ll post more updated when I get it back on the road and tuned again..
Cheers
Tim
