The Police is like a large company with budgets and what not etc, Defence etc.

They dont have cars/utes/vans that cannot be leased. Leasing is usually around 80,000km/5yrs depends on use etc. HWPs are less, compared to hick coppers from avoca station cars which would get traded every 5 years.

Why do the police lease cars you ask? Why not then they dont have to manage them and offload them. Basically they pay $xxx a month for rego, insurance, fuel, servicing etc. The only thing they have to do is organise when the cars go in for servicing. Which they pay some non sworn officers to look after that. You might also notice, Vicpol have alot of australian built cars, its there commitment to australia like the fed gov commitment, they are the only state other than WA i beleive that has the commitment of like 90% of fleet has to be a car made in australia.

VN commodore used by vicpol = I DONT THINK SO.

The other 10% of fleet I talk about is your 300c and Mercs etc, these are usually speical operations cars etc used by vicpol to get attention etc, reduce road tolls, target speeding, good community leasion etc and 4wds, like ya patrols etc.

As for the speed camera operator contractor they use what ever they want and put there cameras in what ever they want there a private contractor etc.

NSW on the other hands and queensland, they have discos with 22s and EF falcons etc lol, not quite ran the same as vicpol.

Now that's sorted, cops very rarely (if ever) try to get in street races in undercover cars. It's entrapment, and anyone with a decent lawyer would beat the case then get the cops in a whole lot of trouble. With OH&S the way it is nowdays I can't see the cops getting approval to do it anyway.

Entrapment ain't a valid legal defence in Australia. You might be able to get off it with a really good lawyer, but I doubt most people who got charged with it could afford one of that standard.

Cops cant use what they want when they want, they are a goverment organisation, bound by rules and regulations, Mr Constable TMU doesnt choose what car he drives, his supervisor does (usually the Sargent in Charge), then they dont choose what cars they get, etc, and evenutally the Minister for Police and Ememergency Service and Climate Change signs the dotted line.

But when you get pull'd over by this VN get a photo. Cause you said you cant tell the difference. Cause I call BS till we see pics
