Sounds like you need something like this VV
http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/pr ... 2&trecs=47

No wait it's done 240,000 kms, so it's probably already run in. You are 17 right ? **** spending 10k on a first car, get something like this. http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/pr ... N&__Nne=20
would make a great B&S ute with some mudflaps, spotties, stickers etc.

Why not buy a cheap xf ute and throw a new motor in it. Then mod it up abit and you'll still have cash in your pocket.

that XF is MINT =]
3 grand, very good price, 250 000 thousand k's, not bad for such an old car. but yehhh, theres sumthin about it that says "side of the road waitin for the racv" =\

haha, annnd yehh, im 17, younge and stupid, while steadily getting wiser i hope, lol.
like iv said a few times, wat draws me to this ute is its one tonne suspension package and the low kilometers, so even tho im gonna do some work to it, i wanna keep it practicle for carrying shit, theres where the suspension package kicks in, and the low kilometers, well, even if the fords go for years, means mine will b goin longer =]

ok, iv had a look around.
havnt found much to take my fancy. like i said, we'll see what happens.

btw, haha, im not a virgin

annnd once again
AU = Fukin ugly in my opinion

Youll never kill an XF man, those things will go forever. KM's dont really mean anything, its how the car has been treated. Might have 100k on it, and thrashed since new or could be a workhorse with 500k on it but has been serviced/well looked after all its life.

Its been said before, its up to you. When I was looking at XG/XH utes and pano's There were HEAPS for around 5-7k and all very tidy examples. Coulda picked up a few XH XR6's for 9-10 and that was last year.
Dont rush into anything, find the right one :)

My tip: XH Pano ;)

even more so. you realise you could get a ute for couple grand less and put stronger springs and basically got the exact same thing as a 1 tonner.
even more so. why put a deposit on a car when ya havent even found out if you can get a loan.
get a loan pre approved for say 10 grand. then go find a car. that way ya not fucking car salesman around. and you might actually ask opinions of people such as this forum before ya go screwing salesman around.
then again you may go buy the car altogether before getting opinions and screw ya self over.
ah well. i remember what it was like when i was younger.
i used to want a ute with bullbar n shit.
then i discovered females that dont look like horses often dont like utes like that :D

Why are people looking at it when you've already put a deposit on it? Didn't you put a deposit on that VY ute because you also knew it's what you wanted?

Are they looking at the price tag then walking away laughing?

lol, oldest trick in the book.

*idea* As for a ute like that, do NOT get full comp insurance if you buy it, stick with 3rd party. Because the ute is worth fvck all in the insurer's eyes and if you damage it badly enough, they'll write it off anyway.

The ute's at your bosses' work you say? So if your loan doesn't get approved, you're going to REALLY piss off your boss by fvcking him around. He's got you where he wants you by the sound of it (I'd do the same to "secure" young workers)

Before looking into B&S accessories, I think you should get a cheaper ute with higher kms on it. And then have way more money at your disposal/less debt (I'm betting it'll be the latter)

As for "extractors, exhaust, lowered"... I'm sure you could find a ute which already has all of these done to it. For less than $10,000.

Am I being too subtle?

If he takes out a car loan (as opposed to a personal loan, which have higher interest rates) he'll have to get full comp as part of the loan agreement.

lol, you make less and less sense all the time.

In your own words, you don't have much money to throw around, so you're going for a loan with a higher interest rate, to buy an overpriced car, which then needs more money spent on it to get it how you want?

OK I'll be a bit less subtle.

BASIC FINANCE MATHEMATICS

EXAMPLE 1) Bog stock ute, low kms, $10,000. Add $500ish for an exhaust, add another $500ish for suspension, although going by your purchase intentions I'm sure you'll get dicked for a $1000 exhaust system (redback polarizor with graphite aluminium titanium nickel metal non-metal muffler & chrome alloy magnesium piping), and dicked another $1000 for suspension (Kings Lows supposedly made from the same metal the T1000 is made from), not to forget your nolethane or urethane (sp) bushes. So we're up to $12,000. And we haven't even looked at your stereo, which once again you'll probably score a $1000 package for close to $2000 because someone else was looking at buying the same headunit, amp & speakers. Oh noes! So you're up to $14,000. 3 months after buying it it'll do its head gasket, you'll be talked into fitting a new head and a $50 radiator cap plus the head gasket caused a parker globe to blow so it'll cost $2000 to replace, instead of $800ish elsewhere...

EXAMPLE 2) Another base model ute including exhaust, stereo, lowered suspension, but with higher kms (200,000... oh noes!) for $7,000. Head gasket has most likely been done 30,000kms ago with the head decked, proper bolts & an AU MLS gasket so it'll pretty much never let go again.

That's SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS difference. You could get TWO utes for the price of ONE here.

for a cheap $30,000 drive-away, 20% interest, 5 year repayment plan.

Lower the VY LS1 Tonner and get dicked for having non-light truck tyres on it when you swap the steelies for 18s. And discover that your 1-ton payload has been reduced to 400kgs due to lowering it & fvcking with the one-tonne suspension.

Best plan ever. Well, 2nd to getting a base model XH for $10,000

I'm putting it to you in a pretty casual manner ;)

so bugger off this best of the best crap with numbers i dont even understand

Evidently... google a finance calculator and figure out how much you'll actually be paying for that XH ute with a loan. I'm predicting that $10k purchase price will actually be closer to $15k when you've finally paid it off, even if it does look "attractive" at $50 a week installments...

That 100,000km ute will probably be less reliable than you think, it's done about 8,000kms a year so far, and if you start driving it heaps (I'm presuming you don't live too far from work either), it's original head gasket is going to give up on you within 3-12 months. Meanwhile the higher-km utes which have most likely done their gaskets already (and let's assume that their history is up to scratch & they've been properly fixed) will be more reliable for you to run around in.

I think this says it all..

Don't argue with morons, they just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

$coupla-hundred for the head... $800ish for the actual job to be done. So you're looking at another $1000 thrown at the ute...

But you just said you can get free labour at work. Why would you need to do it at home?

just buy it and learn from your mistake ;) or be smart and dont buy it.

id personally go for an AU ute any day over an XG-XH. easier to find lower kilometer examles, better engine/trans, series 2 models have half decent brakes, interior doesnt feel like an XF and they look better, if you dont like standard front put on XR front. also you have the option of fitting a tray back/ tradesman boxes or regular tub onto it where as your limited to a canopy for XG-XH.
